Hi, lads

I've just traded in my Honda HRV for Toyota Vitz 2003, jap import. It's automatic, 5-door, 1.0L. It's lovely, calm car, drives very smooth and it's very comfortable. However I've noticed something strange. When going over 60km/h and pushing accelerating pedal, the front of the car starts vibrating very hard, literally shaking (please, excuse my English). Once you take off your foot of the pedal everything goes absolutely normal. Any time you push the pedal and accelerate the shaking appears and disappears once you lift your foot or just not push hard...

Why is that happening?

It could be a couple of things , ie the transmission oil filter is blocked ,bad bearing in gearbox,
engine misfire , bad wheel bearing ,etc
it's one of those problems you need to hear and see for your self .

The car has not been driven for a long period and before I got it I saw the mechanics removing, fixing whatever was there and putting back the part connecting both wheels and steering mechanism. Like I said, the car drives very smooth, no noise at all when going over bad road surface. The only issue is that vibration when accelerating above 60km/h. It remains until 100km/h and then seems to be fine. And always disappears when you lift your foot or just release the pedal. I'm going to check it tomorrow morning with a friend of mine.

sounds like a tyre ballance issue , or a half shaft out of ballance

I went to a mechanic today. He's said that I have to replace 2 drive shafts and an inner ball joint( not sure for the name of the second one). Original Toyota parts 571 Euro each:eek: shaft... Shocking news...

Get them from a breakers yard, if you can. Easy stuff to change.

Checked that too... it'll be 70 euro each... But I'm worried to buy second hand parts.

How could I check if my car is 00-03 or 03-06 model?

What is the difference
