Yah I have the smell of burning plastic... maybe I should look and see...

I looked in the engine compartment and didnt see anything burnt so i didnt really worry too much about it.

there was someone on here awhile ago, that thought there was something burning up under his hood, took it in for service, and then it was a plastic bag ;)

so maybe if ou take it in for service, and tell them it smells like something is burning, they may take it off for you :)

How many miles do you have on the Yaris? New cars has some kind of coating on the exhaust that keeps it from rusting while in transit and sittign on the lot. That stuff will burn off giving a funky smell...that might be what you're smelling.
I think it usually takes a few hundred (maybe even a thousand:iono: ) miles to clear up.

No plastic bags, but it seems to have a lot of play.... almost as if it's loose(which it's not) at the flange connecting the muffler to the rest of the system.

 I've been lucky so far. I've seen pastic bags blowing all over the street but haven't had one of them attach itself to my exhaust yet.

Actually the play is at the flange on mine. Even though the bolts are tight as a mofo, thats the location where it is "twisting" with play. Just thought it was a bit odd, as all the exhausts i've done over the years, none had that much play.

Maybe ill take a short Vid to show what im talking about..

I had a huge plastic bag go under my car, I pulled over and removed it, but it was too late, melted about 4' of length on my exhaust, so when I got home I crawled under why it was still hot and wiped it off with a rag, but it still stinks a little, at least not as bad as it was before I wiped it off.

yup, ive gotten most of the plastic off but theres still some burnt residue i guess from the lettering on the bag or something. faint smell of plastic burning but hopefully it goes away. razorblade works good to scrape off the crap.
