Silk Roads.. and Rear Sway bar

Looking for input from anyone running the silks. I know Garm has them.

Installation will be an 09 5dr hb.

Daily driver yes, but found a club to join that has multiple events/track and auto cross events.

Will more than likely run the standard 15" rims with the Toyos. Have heard rave reviews on stick/wear and reliablity.

Will post up about helping squeeze some more power out in the performance mod threads.

Best coilovers I've ever used. Pretty stiff on the street (a little too harsh to be wife-friendly), but really nice response and the adjustment is great.

Ok.. Now in reading back on some posts on struts/springs etc.. and.. coil-overs etc..
I am now questioning if I should go with the Silks, or.. do I go with a spring/strut combination? What I am hoping for in outcome is:
1. try to maintain as close to stock ride height as possible(Stock rim size)
2. adjustable for going from street(day to day driving where roads are not exactly smooth!) and then for track time. Some autocross and some solo slalom(race track/full course and higher speeds)

so one thing i've heard people talk about that no one has really adressed is when you own coilovers, you need to mantain them? Like have them serviced every year? How does that work, and how much does it cost?

Well, if you are living where it snows and things get wet and rust. You need to keep the threads clean and free of dirt and grit. Make sure that the protective rubber boots on the struts/shocks are in good shape.

@2manywheels. If you get coilovers and plan to do weekend auto x and track stuff. I'm pretty sure that once you lower the car (not slam it of course) you'll probably keep it set that way. The reason behind this is when you lower the car you change the dynamics of the suspension.

Best thing is to settle for the happy medium in ride height and just adjust the dampening from soft to hard. Go for a 1 - 1.5 inch drop (depending on what you like) and just keep it that way. (there's a little adjustment trick for the rear suspension mounting point that you'll want to do as well when you lower the car. (search for rear suspension mods in forum).

Well, I haven't had a really good look at them close up. Do they have boots that cover the threads? Once I get it setup, the only thing I will adjust is dampening/rebound. Height.. We can set and forget in the first day of testing/setup. If there is a boot that covers the threads than it should be ok. If not, I will see what can be done to protect them because yes.. up here they use sand/gravel and some salt mixed in and it will cause havoc on the suspension bits.. Just waiting on pricing from Garm.. then we can get this happening!

If you want to protect your coil-overs try a good car wax ( double coat) on all the non moving parts ....

As far as maintaining the coil-overs , they are shocks , so you will have to get them refurbished somewhere between 60k and 100k miles . Most decent companies will do this at a fair price .

What is involved to install?
Mechanically inclined but on motorcycles.
I don't have a car lift.. just for bikes.

If you are wanting to just adjust dampening why not get the Tokico HTS struts/shocks and a good spring?

Because I want to maintain the same ride height as stock.
The HTS's and Springs would cost about the same as the STD's all in to my door.

Funny, I didn't plan on having a blue yaris to then order blue coil overs!!!
