Oooh! I may be there with the full sound system installed!

We leave Iraq early next month...

Give me April and May to install the system and I should be sitting pretty for this cruise.

I should be able to go this year again as long as the car is in good shape and I have gas money! Sad I missed last years, the first two were a blast! Great chance to show off my new mods too.

I'll be upsetting you sorry. It has almost nothing to do with the engine.

I'll throw this out, five Italian amplifiers, custom dash work, three way set, and a rare Japanese tuner.

Two subs...and a partridge in a pear tree! I'm working on it...We're trying to lock down the pricing on the amplifiers. It may get pushed down to four amplifiers from five...regardless, it's starting next week.

Dude.... I could install my rare Japanese tuner.... hehehe... but then i'd have to install an amp for door speakers.... could run my oem's off a 80x2... and my dual 8's off my 160x2 hahaha... but then maybe... I think.... we'd have a Denon Meet.

DENON MEET! DENON MEET!

I've actually been thinking for a long time about installing both my amps under the seat... in prep for when I finally do get around to installing my speakers. The one sad thing is that I would lose Ipod capability. Tho the deck would be like 300times better than the oem p.o.s.

no aux port on mine... errr... but i was thinking of just putting in a kill switch and hardwiring the stock aux plug into a set of RCA's and merge them in with the decks signal. have it be a rocker switch... one way is desk signal, the other is aux input signal. Would still look somewhat stock (minus the whole brush aluminum deck part).

The fiancee wants to come along for the ride.... Fine with me... keep me company during the drive. So...i've got the approval... the only thing that might get in my way is if she ends up flying out of town on sunday (i'd have to drive her to PDX), which is a possibility.

Stove...where abouts are you in Tigard? Before I was deployed to Iraq, I was living in those huge apartment complexes on Royalty Parkway across from King City. My wife and I are awaiting answers on several housing offers, one of them in Tigard.

I may have another member of Team Hybrids coming to the cruise. He has a Nissan, still, as I read the invitation it's open to everyone who likes cars. I'm trying to get him to come down from Seattle. You guys could hear a car that is among one of the world's best sounding vehicles...that's the goal.

I am just happy to get to hang with some Yaris owners......I will probably bring my chili to cook.......it is good and goes pretty fast so once you hear it is ready to eat get in line.......lol.

Looking forward to seeing and hearing a nice SQ install........plus I got a few questions that need answered for my install,I got most everything now short of building an amp rack and fiberglass sub box.

Either gonna do 2 ID 10s or 3 ID 10s,my amp can push both, just not sure if I got enough room in back for the amps and enclosure......lol.

gonna try to run an active frontstage as well and need some understanding on a way to do it without breaking the bank......I got the comps, tweets, and another set of 5.25" comps minus the tweets.

got a 4 channel amp and also a 5 channel amp to work with.......just not sure how to get it to sound the best......

See you guys there,it is gonna be a fun day and I will bring camera so we can get a photoshoot as well......

Potluck? Hmmm. Do we have facilities to heat something up? Or do we bring those? I'm thinking something like a GRIP of twice baked potatoes ala The Keg style (since I used to cook for them years ago, that is one of the recipes I have put to memory)...

Just click the link 39 provided and sign up for a free meetup.com account, and say yes you will attend, plus any guests, and what you will bring to the potluck afterwords (if your going to attend that part, which I hope you will, it's a blast). Also, copy and paste the list on here.

You're in Yakima right? You'll need to be on Hwy 12 by 7am to make it to the Castlerock meet point on time. If you were on the road by 6:45am you would buy some extra time for traffic (which usually isn't bad from my experience) and allow you to meet with other enthusiasts before we head up the mountain. I was going to head there by going thru yakima, but it adds almost a half hour to my already long drive so I'm just going to take I-90.

Astroman
05-17-2010, 03:17 PM
Will anyone be driving along I-90/I-5? Coming from Wenatchee and this seems to be the quickest route. Would be cool to roll with some of you who are headed to the cruise. Would make my 4.5 hour drive a bit more fun.

Johnston Ridge to Castle Rock: 68.5 mpg
Castle Rock to Hillsboro, OR: 44 mpg (i hit rush hour traffic on my way home :( .)

well, seeing as I have a 4 hr drive just to get to the meeting location before the drive.... i'm sure I will be doing 70-75mph... thus 35mpg would be my guess, then once I get there, maybe closer to 40mpg, but even then, got to keep up with the group, I don't plan on being the last one up the hill, nor do I plan to break ranks once we have our caravan set up.

I moved here from Spokane in '98. I still miss the winter sunshine.

With the exception of 6 months in japan, I had lived in spokane for the first 25 years of my life. It's hard to give up a lifestyle which is so ingrained in your daily/yearly habits.... I miss sunshine, I miss the people (well, some of them) I miss the mountains all over... I'm going back next week to get married, and then at the end of the month for hoopfest... but honestly, I wish I was living there... but I'm signing papers today that will officially make me an officer for LCSO, so I'll be sticking around here for at least a few years. FYI, it looks like some of the Scion crew is meeting in Kelso at 9:30 and cruising up there. I'm hoping to be up there a bit before 10:00.

Anyone want to meet in the northern area of Portland or in Vancouver somewhere and caravan up? Or we could just meet in Kelso ... or just meet there. LOL

I'm leaving from Tigard and can meet anybody along the way. I will probably leave the house a little before 8 as I want to be in Castle Rock well before 9:30. Time to have a cup of coffee and get a good parking spot. The headcount from the meetup.com page is 35, so parking will be at a premium.

Would be sweet if us Yarri could park together @ castlerock, but with us rolling in at different times it's likely not gonna happen, but for sure lets try to roll up the mountain together. The parking for the castlerock meet has been in the gravel "tex oil" lot to the right of the shell station as there is ample parking for the group.

This weather has made it almost impossible to clean my car, only thing I can do is the interior. Going to clean my engine bay today but with all the rain the exterior has been impossible. The TB has been running like a dream, and I have at least 300 miles on it with zero problems so I will be leaving it on for sure for the cruise. Just wish I still had my TRD exhaust.

If everyone who says their going does (and I hope they do) were looking at 8 or 9 Yarii, or even more showing up. So no matter what before everyone takes off we need a group shot of just us.

Taln and TN...

Vancouver meeting place? RIGHT off I-5 before I-5 meets with I-205. When you're going North (obviously) you can see a small Fred Meyer store off to the right of the freeway. That's the Hazel Dell Fred Meyer store. It's technically three right hand turns off the freeway and two lefts and a right hand turn getting back onto I-5. There's a Starbucks right there or a BK and a McDs just down the street if anyone needs a recharge.

^the Fred Meyer address. Notice it is like I said RIGHT off the freeway. It is a stone's throw away.

There will actually be ample parking, as there's a fairly wide open gravel area just to the south west of your circle, which is where we've all parked before.

It hasn't been the last three years. There's a big, open area right by the gas station where people park for a bout 20 min or so before we go up. I do, however, recommend we be there semi on time. If we leave at 8:45-ish we should be fine.

Just to note on that Hazel Dell map...

The Freddy's shares the same parking lot as a Salvation Army outlet. The marker is right on the SA corner. The Freddy's is the slightly bigger building just above it (North). There is a "bigger" parking lot on the North Side by the Starbucks. That's where I'll be.

DC Sports. I'm sooooo tempted to put it on before the cruise, but knowing my luck, something will get hosed during the install and I won't be able to bring the Yaris up. I'm trying to squelch the urge.

Why'd you need a new 02 sensor?

so I just google map'd my drive to both the freddy's in vancouver, and to the Shell @ castle rock. Says they are only about 20 mins apart. So I am a bit confused why you are meeting up in vancouver @ 8:30... that gives you 90mins to drive 15-20miles...

Somebody correct me if i'm wrong, the e-mail I got said the caravan leaves Castle Rock round 10am.

If i'm correct on all this... I might just meet you all up in Castle Rock. The difference is me leaving the house @ 6:30 or 7:30. Staci likes the idea of 7:30 a lot better.

If you are coming from Eugene, Castle Rock is about 46 miles past the Fred Meyer, so it should be 45-ish minutes to get from one to the other. I have no doubt that it can be done quicker but if we are diving as a group, speeds will probably be in the legal range. I think the plan is to leave from the Fred Meyer at about 8:45-ish (since its a group, this probably means 9:00) so we should be in Castle Rock at 9:30 to 9:45 depending on when we actually leave Freddy's. Gives us time to get a cup of coffee and have a bathroom break before the drive up the mountain.

BTW, It looks like its about 170 miles from Eugene to Castle Rock. If you are planning on leaving at 7:30, you're going to have to make good time in order to get it to Castle Rock by 10. I-5 near the bridge into Washington has road work/delays right now so it may add to your travel time. They are working on the weekends but I have no idea how early they start.

Also I was so sleepy from getting up 4 in the morning, that I was forced to take a nap at a rest area, which turned into a 1 1/2 hour of deep sleep lol.
