does anyone know if this is going to affect my car insurance? I am with RBC...and if I do not change my muffler back to stock and police pull me over for the same reason for 2nd time, are they going to do anything???

I was on Hwy 7 and Warden AROUND 11:30 PM and polices were pulling many car over for mods (SIR, STI .ect.....and my yaris...)

Any suggesion since this is my first improper muffler???? Thanks

Steven

Assuming it was a fix-it ticket, you should be allowed to reinstall your stock exhaust and have a cop station inspect it for a write-off. Once the ticket is cleared, it won't show-up on your insurance.

If you still want an aftermarket exhaust installed, I suggest you get one with a street-legal limit of 95 Db. The one you're running now may be an off-road/race-only part.

Try calling XCopper or another of those ticket fixing agencies. Some offer free consultation.
My guess is it won't hurt your insurance as it's not really a moving violation nor a safety issue.
I suppose you could Google the Ontario Highway Traffic Act to research. You will find the the rules against mod's are substancial.

Are you running that Raptor Racing exhaust that you test fitted? If not, what are you running just for forum FYI purposes.

i know someone with a integera who gets probably at least once a month (in the summer) and he would go in and fight them. he told me he would tell the judge he fixed the issue and put the stock one on. they would always get thrown out

Ouch,

and I was going to make my Yarius roar this summer. Lucky for me I was near Warden / 7 but not on the road driving.

Good luck with that. I was pulled over with a Blitz on a stock pipe! Why? In our Vehicle motor book it states that if the diameter of an exhaust has been modified from stock --------you get a ticket. However now this applies to almost 80% of the cars since some are done by the dealer. It depends on the officer etc...
Driving my car is now pretty much a violation ticket, just looking at it.
but I did cut my pretty Blitz exhaust tip and welded on a 2.5 inch pipe in it's place, so it looks stock.

Generally our highway traffic act states that any modification is illegal. So, if they wanted to be picky they could ticket any change, even preceived upgrades. Chances are they wouldn't go down that avenue unless the officer was inspired to throw the book at you.

why?

Steven;

that's WACKED!!! My Supra would be louder than my Yaris with 2 cylinders tied behind its back and I have NEVER been ticketed for noise...and yes I've been pulled over with that.

I've even been pulled over with the Yaris in Mississauga. Like a moron I didn't renew my sticker in time; the cop said he heard the exhaust and it caught his attention. When I asked if there was a problem with the exhaust he commented that it sounded nice so he turned his head and noticed the expired sticker...he laughed and said I wouldn't be getting the sticker ticket if I had a factor exhaust. He said nothing about the noise level and I was accelerating when he saw me.

I personally think you were in the right place at the right time...or wrong place for that matter.

Sorry to hear that :frown:

While I certainly support ticketing folks who intentionally, and rudely inflict excessive exhaust noise upon the rest of us... I suspect that the *really* special place in Hell is reserved for those folks rattling everyone else's bumpers (and the knick-knacks in my living room) with their god-damned subwoofers. At least in that case I have the satisfaction of knowing that the driver will probably be mostly deaf by the time he's 35.

So you're saying you hate people who does anything to the exhaust?

No. I hate people who drive around with obnoxious subwoofers that rattle the china in my house. I merely dislike, and want to see ticketed, folks who intentionally install inadequate mufflers.

Read my post.

If I lived in your neighborhood, I'd just call the cops on you. Problem solved. It's the folks that drive by that are the problem.

You seem like a pretty inconsiderate sort. I'm not surprised at all at your 1200W sub habits.

To sum it up, they change the meaning of the word Fag, to represent loud annoying bikers and there bikes.

Or in this case, owners of loud annoying mufflers/sound systems.
