I just got my 2010 5dr LB on Saturday. She (I named her Rosie) went into the shop today for the window tinting and blu tooth installation.

They said she would be ready about 3 or 3:30 so I showed up at that time. They said the tinting went great but when the tech was installing the blu tooth, it would blow the fuse when he started the car while on a call. They are keeping it overnight for a possible new unit. BUT they also said that there could of been an mistake in the actual installation, possible wires shorting, that type of thing. It didn't make me feel more confident to see the installer checking on a computer to see what he could of done wrong either.

Is it possible that I may now have some sort of left over electrical problems because of this? What should I check for when I finally get to pick it up?

I was planning on taking my dog and doing a road trip in Rosie to the Grand Canyon so that's off. And I have to pay $100 cleaning fee if they even find any signs of having an amimal in the loaner so the dog is stuck at home until Rosie is back.

The loaner car they gave me is a 2010 Venza. The thing is a monster. Guess they thought I would be thrilled to have a bigger fancier car but I HATE it. If I wanted incomprehensible controls I would of bought one. I want my simple little Rosie back.

You should be okay. Thats what fuses are for. Once they fix the car make sure they document something on paper about the issue so if you have any problems in the future they either have to fix it or be liable for it.

Hmmm...sounds like the tech doesn't know what he's doing. It shouldn't take that long to do bluetooth. Especially in a Yaris.

Sounds like they have a wiring guide that goes by wire colors and they either connected to a wrong connector (right color, wrong connector) or the document they are following is wrong (right connector, wrong color). Either way, it looks like they don't know what they are doing, and lack the skills to find the right wire on their own.

I never trust connectors or wiring diagrams.

I always test my connections before I finalize my installs.

Test-light for power and grounds, and multimeter for continuity / polarity checks.

Install techs do the same thing over and over again, so they get themselves in a habit of trying to be faster, and not always double-check all the connections.

Some techs take their time, and do it carefully.
Other guys try to impress everyone with how fast they can do an install.

I always take my time, and do it carefully.
I am not in a race.

You know the old saying:
"You always have time to do it RIGHT the SECOND time!"

I just got my 2010 5dr LB on Saturday.

Graz on adopting Rosie!

I call my 2008 3dr HB my EGG.

Cuz it's white. And it looks like an egg on wheels.

How about a pic of Rosie when you get a chance.

OK I'm a professional installer for a shop here in New York. Anyway regarding your problem, what brand of bluetooth are they installing? I personally recommend the Parrot brand for bluetooth and usually takes us an hour to install. Other brands like Motorola usually takes 30 mins.

BTW I also own a 2008 Yaris and my wife gave his the name Bugsy.
