I am not really all that concerned with the alarm, but I really want the keyless entry. I saw this on eBay and since it had the flip key thing, I'm thinking of giving it a shot. Has anyone else tried this?

There is no brand name in the eBay ad, so I really can't Google it, but I really want to know if I can actually cut the key to work on the Yaris. I emailed the seller too, and I'm waiting on a reply.

I have one of those ebay flip keys i bough for about 15 bucks. It programmed to my yaris and the key was able to be cut.

Unfortunately, my yaris didn't come with factory keyless entry, so I can't get the one that programs to the Toyota system...The same seller seems to have ones that fit other imports, which is the reason I question if the key can be cut to the Yaris.

Does your key look like the one in this listing? I bought the one that is listed in the OP and used up 3 of the four blanks without ANY success in having the blades work. The flip key blade is a couple millimeters wider (not thicker) than the stock key and therefore messes with the alignment. When I contacted the seller they stated that the blade may need modification to work however the different shops that I went to all have that same standard key cutting machine that you find everywhere it seems. To be sure the right template was being used I purchased and had cut a new key from the stock at the places I went to and all 3 of their keys worked however when they cut the flip key blade it was cutting the key wrong due to the width. For reference I went to Wal-mart, Lowes, and the local Toyota dealership. Any info would be greatly appreciated as I would really like to have a flip key rather that one with the integrated FOB nor do I wish to have the dongle as it adds too much bulk IMHO.

and oh yeah, other than the keyless entry I just like the fact that the alarm gives you a break on car insurance.

I never tried getting mine cut. They looked about the same but I never measured them with calipers.
The instructions on the alarm was so bad though that I had to guess (educated guesses with a fluke) and I ended up smoking the box.. literally. I went with a different keyless entry instead. I first tried to program those remotes to my new system and that didn't work, so I tried to have the crystal and chip from my new remote put in the flip one.. that didn't work either so now I have two flip keys for my son to play with.

Yeah I contacted the seller and they suggested that I just ship them back the kit and they will refund my money, but it really sucks cause a flip key would be very nice without spending a couple hundred bucks.
