Yaris Stalling

Hey guys,

I have an 01 Yaris, 1.3 Manual.

Just scowered the site looking for some idea whats going on.

I have an intermittant problem, when I start the car all looks fine, I get the auto choke 'rev up' then settle.

However, when I give it gas the engine stalls.. If i give the gas peddle a tap the car will rev on the release. Has me beat and the mechanic that looked at it ruled out coils in the engine.

Like I said intermittant problem, get it when pulling away sometimes, loose power and have to pump the gas peddle to get away..

Any Ideas?

Maybe fuel system. You have nothing to lose by trying a good fuel system cleaner.

OK guys,

I unplugged the air intake control plug, seems to have reset the problem for a while... still working on it.

It is more likely the air flow sensor in the intake not sensing correct air coming into the engine. Might be expensive to replace....

If it's the mass airflow sensor, sometimes it just needs cleaning. Instructions are on this site somewhere.
