View Full Version : Carrying capacity reduced?

I have a 2008 Yaris Sedan which I bought with 21,000 miles on it. On the door jamb, next to the usual placards, I have a bright yellow sticker which warns that modifications to the vehicle have reduced the carrying capacity by [some unreadable number of pounds hand written in pen].
I'm wondering what that could be about? This seems a pretty stock Yaris sedan to me.
Any ideas?

My guess is maybe it was a totaled car that was rebuilt?

No. It's a Certified car, with its maintenance history on the Toyota site. Plus, black reveals any imperfections. And the body panels are absolutely perfect. Not a suggestion of ripple anywhere.
My suspicion is that whenever anything with mass is added to the car by the dealership, they modify the maximum load to account for it. This car did have a Lojack transponder added about a month after the original owner bought it. But I'd think that would be well under a pound.

Maybe it was just crap they legally had to put on there since they installed the lojack. **Certified*** :p
