Chicago would be a good place to have a little meet... I could make the drive, and I suppose a lot of people in the great lakes area could as well.

I'd second that, a springtime meet would be awesome! There are infinite places around here to have a meet.

As a White Sox fan, I'd favor having a meet prior to a Sox game in Chicago. :)

well I'm in favor of having a meet on the south side :) More convienent for those coming from elsewhere.
Could also have something out west... but honestly I think it'll come down to who just finds a place to go.

Could possibly have the meet at my work - www.land-craft.com in crestwood, IL (just south of chicago)
I'd say enough room for 20-30 cars, I doubt we'd even see that much. Probly run some deals on some car audio/paint/performance stuff too.
Could break out the grill, and all that good stuff :)
What do you guys think? Date wouldn't be so important, since nobody would be coming out of pocket for this and making reservations, maybe just chip in on the burgers/dogs.

I can meet up with Chino.... Chi-town is straight up 80/90 for me... about 4 hours or so.... I would like to have a meet with some Canadians and some Americans, somewhere between Windsor and Toronto? BTW Chino pay up on your header so we can get them things ordered

any ideas on a date?
I'd say give it till spring for better weather, and to allow the community to grow a bit :)
The shop is approx 10 mins north of I-80, so you OH guys coming over wont have to trek through chicago, and its approx 5 mins from 294, so the more northerly folks wont have to deal with downtown.

It is Chicago, so it doesn't get warm until pretty late. Aim for July maybe?

Normally by may its in the 70's, june is normally a pretty hot month too... I mean, it could be as early as april.
July is a little late heh.

but sometime next spring huh? I don't think I've seen only a handful of LB's on the road around here. Maybe by then we can get a bigger crowd.......I'll keep watching this thread for details/updates........

bump for no updates :)
I am starting to see more and more yaris LB's (sry sedan guys but the car doesn't stick out enough for me to glance at and immediately know its a yaris sedan).
Once it warms up I'd say we just all hit up a local cruise spot. There is a thing every thursday night in crete, and I'm sure there are more scattered around the chi area.

something west, south, north.. lol wherever, doesnt matter to me i'm all for it.
There may be an event or 2 at union grove dragway that we might want to mob... then we can even have some extremely slow racing action
http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/index.php?page=schedule
one of the fREE nights, or maybe a "fun racing for all" night would be pretty sweet.
there is also http://www.us41dragway.com , and then rt66 in joliet.

GLD is never free. They call it free racing because you only pay the $13 spectator fee. I have gone to opening weekend the past 5 years and it is crowded like OMFG. You wait like 1.5 hour in line to get a run.
I blew up my clutch at 41 a few years back so I have an aversion to it.
Here is an idea though. Usually at the end of march/beginning of april the Chicagoland region scca has a auto-x school for n00bs.
Since its been a few years since I have auto-x'd I figured I would sign up for the school with the Yaris. Its like $100 and there are 2 days of instruction and racing. Fun stuff for sure.

still not bad for $13 :). Alot cheaper than $100 lol
which btw, for the past 2 years I've been up there for most of the import wars, although I wasnt racing, I was in the MECA stereo comp.
edit: 3 years now :)

Hi, all. I'm new here, and new to my Yaris sedan. Just picked it up a week ago, and I LOVE it! I wasn't sure up until the very time I drove off in my new car that I had done the right thing by trading in my GTI. Now, the only thing I miss is the sunroof I had. But, the new car smell is getting me over that quickly.
Seems like a nice site here, and I'm browsing lots of topics for helpful information. Just thought I'd stop in and say hi from the NW burbs.

Thanks all for the welcome. Now, be patient with me if I have a TON of stupid questions to ask....lol. But, I have this weekend off, so I'm going to curl up with my owner's manual and learn about my new toy.

The owners manual will answer almost every "stupid" question... believe me!
now for more advanced stuff (and just to BS), these forums are useful
I'm sure I won't be getting into any advanced stuff any time soon....if ever...lol. Right now, I'm still getting used to driving an automatic again after almost 10 years with a manual. I'm still reaching for the clutch that isn't there...lol.
I'm also kinda looking for some cool little Yaris images/pics/graphics to put up on my myspace page. (Yes, I'm a dork, I'll admit it.) Any ideas? I'm so not the photoshop kinda girl...lol. My google searches have come up a little empty on what I'm looking for.

x2... lots of good pics in there.
TY all for the help.
I got my Yaris down in Joliet at Thomas Toyota. I'm originally from there, and I brought my dad with me to make sure I wasn't completely being taken for a ride....lol. It was easier for me to get there, than for him to get up here. They were pretty nice there. I probably still got a little hosed, but don't we all when dealing with the car dealerships? I still got it out the door for a thousand less than I was willing to pay, so I can't complain too badly.

Congrats on the purchase.
The power locks killed me too. So much in fact that I installed aftermarket power locks and an alarm. No tach bothered me at first and now I just don't care.
