an acquaintance had their '07 COROLLA taken to local TOYOTA dealer because it kept stalling . Come to find out the E.C.U. is bad at 40,000 something miles . Thankfully under warranty . Think the E.C.U. is made in CHINA for the COROLLA . Hopefully won't spread to any of our YARIS . If not already .

We had the same problem on our 05. Preplaced 3 months later it went bad.Started throwing codes for bad canister replaced the $400 canister still had the codes.Replaced the ECU drove it for 6 months and trade it in on a 10 corolla.

It's only Corollas and Matrixes that are affected and a new ECU fixes it. Toyota says it's something like a broken solder joint inside the ECU.

Anyways, since we're hoping about theoretical situations, I hope the Tacoma rust issue doesn't spread to the Yaris as well.

what was the Tacoma rust issue about?

Tacoma frames totally rusting out because of lack of rust preventative applied when the truck was manufactured or something to that effect. It was for 1995-2000 models originally, but it was expanded to 2004 just recently.

My aunt called me the other day because she got a letter regarding it. Her Tacoma is practically rusted through in spots so hopefully Toyota will decide to buy it back from her since she doesn't want the truck anymore because of this. Not that I blame her!

So Toyota will either repair it, or buy the truck back at the lower MSRP when it was new or pay 1.5 times KBB value, adhering to KBB quality standards of vehicle upkeep. (Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent etc)

TUNDRA included too . FJ CRUISER has / had weak spot in frame , believe it's a brace and weld fix . Fiances' brother had the frame of his TACOMA replaced by local dealer . Did a fairly good job . Driver door doesn't latch quite as well now .
