Removed my spare tire but now i have a problem...

The rear of my car sits up very noticebly higher. I have trd springs and it looks like the rear end sits up 1 inch more. So the car looks angled down. Its surprising just that little bit of weight removed make the rear lift up.

Now im wondering if its worth just finding lowering springs for the rear only. I like having trd springs cause the ride is nice still. I heard the honda fit springs fit in the back. Anyone know of a higher spring rate spring that is just a little bit lower than trd.

i have H&R springs...i removed my spare in January....the rear went up slightly, but not enough to notice the car pointed downwards when looked at~

Might want to try H&R lowering springs...

your gonna spend the extra money to get 1/2 inch lower on the back? you might as well get coilovers. your probably going to spend the same amount. use your commom sense buddy. why would your remove your spare tire in the first place? its there for a reason

how soft are these spings anyways, a 1" rise for just removing your spare tire sounds crazy.

Jason, whats the rate on the rear TRD springs? The H&R rear springs have a 1.3 rate...and are stiff so they don't go up much with the spare removed..

I dont think there is a set spring rate since they are progressive not linear? Which could be the reason why they react so easily to weight. Spring rate dosnt get higher till they are pushed down so changes depends on the road and weight conditions.

I have a triple A card in my wallet and i dont travel more than a few miles from home to work. I have tire pressure monitor system so ill know whenever my tire is low. its very unlikely ill ever have a blowout going no more than 45 on brand new tires that will require a spare tire. But if i did, i could just have my car towed to the closest tire shop.

If i ever go on a long trip its as simple as throwing the spare tire back in the trunk for reassurance.

Also springs are usually no more than 200 dollars and thast for a complete set of four verses 800 or more for a set of coil overs.

Jason - there should be a rate of how much it sets your front/rear of the car. The Tanabe DFs on the rear do: 1.8 once they settle~ (dont quote me on it, but somewhere around there)
I know when Sean took his spare out, his raised somewhat in the rear, but not enough to where it looks like it was nose diving.

my Yaris has stock springs, I removed the spare tire, hard mat covering the spare tire well, plastic trays, lug nut wrench and jack handle....total rise was a 1/4".

Thats actually the best advise I think. Takes care of my cosmetic issue while giving me more balanced weight.

I'm running Progress springs, which are so stiff that there's ZERO ride height difference after gutting the interior for Auto-X.

Also keep in mind this is without someone sitting in the drivers seat. If i had soemone sitting in there and take a picture it would drop probally another inch in the front.

TRD springs are fairly soft.
When I load up my sedan for a trip the tail goes way down.

You don't need to get new springs or cut the coils . Keep in mind ya'll are looking at a static yaris , as opposed to a dynamic yaris . When the yaris is in dynamic (motion) mode , the downforce will level the car out :cool:

Oddly on my NFs i keep on getting asked if i have DFs: stock seat is in there, and a 12in sub im guessing is like 25lbs max i really dont know. But it sits lower than what i expected with NFs, and i cant attribute that to the box i dont see any movement if i lift it up. I hate the front being so high off, i would mucher rather have a slanted look fronts lower a bit more. TRD wasnt low enough for me, so i guess i would just mix a DF front to lower it.

Maybe a stiffer front would help out this feeling i get that the outside wheel spring is compressed more during a moderate 90 degree turn so it feels like rolling. Then again this contradicts what everyone tries to get a rear bias in spring rate. Is this where the front strut bar comes in?
