Just FYI if it's from Verizon (from the pics), it can't be used on any networks here in Canada. Even though they use the same CDMA band that Telus & Bell use, they would never add a phone to those networks without selling them to you (unless you happen to know someone who works there).

Reading is Fundamental. AND FYI its unlocked. And these phones use GSM. I am currently using this on a GSM network.

How are you using a Verizon branded phone on a CDMA network? Verizon's network, last I checked, weren't GSM. Only T-mobile, AT&T, etc.

"Unlocked" should just mean that it's compatible with any CDMA network (assuming it's NOT GSM and no SIM is involved) only AFTER it has been reprogrammed to use the new CDMA network (U.S. Cellular, Tellus & Bell, Sprint, etc)

edit: I don't mean to squash your sale, I just don't want to see someone get a phone and expect something that would be impossible to deliver.

Corrected your post. The blackberry storm is a SIM card based phone. If it would put the buyer or anyone interested at ease, I can take a picture of the sim card. If you look on the first and second pics, you can see that the network I am using is ATT. It shows right above the time.

blackberry storm uses both a CDMA and a GSM/UTMS radio. The phone is regarded as a world phone, so ppl can use it overseas without needing to rent or get another phone. The phone can be obtained unlocked, or can be purchased from verizon and have verizon unlock the phone to use any GSM SIM card (given you have service for more than 6 months). The sale is legit, in my eyes. Yes, i work for vzw. :)

gl with sale!

Good to know. Downside of being stuck in the mid-west: not getting to see phones that are actually decent and functional in a more global sense.

Dumb question but can it be used on VW even after being unlocked?

Yes it can. It will just need a Verizon sim card.

Nice! Let me go ask Verizon how much they will charge me for calls and text messaging when in Japan. If it's fair, I will end up taking this phone off you're hands.

Just did some research on the net..and this phone does work in Japan. The phone latches onto Softbanks network...since Vodafone is no more. If i can get away w/ using texting only w/ cheap rates...you sir, have yourself a deal :)

Usually what I do when I travel to the Philippines, I buy a prepaid sim card locally and use that while I am there. I am not sure what the rates are in Japan, but in the Philippines, its super cheap per text.

So i went to Verizon today and told them the situation.

I have to buy an international plan...then pay the roaming charges on top of that...or whatever SoftBank will charge me for calling local and texting.

I think that will become costly for me. The guy said for three weeks, I'm looking at paying $115! on top of the monthly fees..O_O

I'm sorry, I have to pass up on this, I will be contacting my friends to meet up at different train stations there...and the pay phones there dont work half of the time~

Prepaid phone cost there is $80. and the card is included.

In Japan its cheaper to text than to call. The prepaid card doesnt drain as much when only texting...
