Homemade Sub Box Wrapped With NEFFY!

hey all! the past few weeks I have been working side by side with another member, Slick, to build a custom box for my RF P3 12" and decided that, instead of finishing it with the a-typical carpet, to wrap it in NEFFY! :headbang:
It turned out wonderful, and i am very happy with the result. Building a box is a lot of hard work if you don't have the proper tools. and i couldn't have done it without Slick so a big thanks to him :thumbsup:. but i promised to help him with his custom set up once he gets that goin. anyways, enough chatter, now on to the pics!!

my monitor work sucks (its too dark for images)... but here's my comments...

1: Awesome, I wish more people would actually build custom boxes (you are now in the top 10% knowledge/experience class of car audio owners)

2: Is that a seam from the NEFFY wrap I see at the top of the box, or is it the seam where the wood connects?

If it is a wood seam, next time sand that down, and if you want to get really nice, cover the edges in body filler, then sand them down so you get rid of even the smallest little holes.

If it is the fabric seam, ALWAYS keep fabric seams away from corners. Corners are easy spots to lift up material as they see more wear than the sides. It takes a bit more work to place a seem on the side of a box, but if you do it correctly, it will be virtually undetectable.

3: Rounded corners on boxes are cool, and reduce the wear on objects that the sub box accidentally bumps into (say plastic trim pieces, dry wall when you take the sub inside, etc.) A 1/2" or 3/4" round-over router bit does the trick well. I could see how that would make covering the box with NEFFY hard tho. Keep it in mind if you make any boxes in the future that use carpet or paint.

Thank you very much for the comments. Yes that is a very slight seam of where the wood connects. Haha. We did our very best to make sure every side was immaculate but alas, imperfections are inevitable for your first time I suppose :laugh:

Never thought of using drywall.
I'm thinking of finding something to frame the edges and corners with so those tiny imperfections wouldn't be noticeable but haven't decided on what to use yet.

no, oh gawd no! I didn't recommend using drywall. what I was saying is that if you have sharp corners on your box and for some reason you have to yank your box from your car... (like you taking your car into get fixed, or it'll be parked for a week while you're on vacation) you are more likely to put a hole in the wall of your house if you accidentally bump against the wall.

There is a router bit that is designed to clean up edges where two pieces of wood meet. My buddy uses it on all the boxes he makes, he makes sure that the sides will over lap by about 1/8", and then uses the bit to get them to the perfect length.

I can imagine it being hard to cover up imperfections with that stuff, paint is also really hard too.

@p123456789: I believe the dimensions are 15x14x18, but i could be off an inch or so. The internal volume is a hare over two cubes
