Trying to get into this whole modding thing to no avail thus far. I have been told I need to replace my struts, and I figured I could go ahead and get a decent suspension and lower my ride a bit while I'm at it.

The problem is, I know nothing about cars and all the information on this forum is specifically about the Yaris. Also, most google searches yielded weak results.

Thanks so much! I appreciate the help.

However, the URL you gave me is a bit hard to follow.

Is this what I'm looking for? Are new struts included in this package?

yes. struts and springs.
the tein basic is perfect for the first yaris (echo).

Thanks bro, I appreciate it very much!

I've also gotten a bit of a breakthrough after weeks of looking! NST told me that their pulleys for the Echo are the same ones that fit the Scion xA/xB. I figured out that they might have more in common. So, I came across this thread:

It's too bad that echodrivers forum link is a 404. :(

Now I have to find out what a normal strut replacement would be if I wasn't going for aftermarket stuff so I can do the price comparison.

How much would you suppose this would lower my ride?

Echodrivers (http://echodrivers.com/forum/)

What were you looking for there? Echodrivers is my home turf.

Edit: oh, ok I see what link you're talking about now... Fixed (http://echodrivers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5421) it. A while back the forum was updated and the "s" was taken off of "forums". Most links are still broken.

Ah!

Thanks man, that's a good look. :) It has been really tough to find options for my little ride. Right now it's pretty pathetic, but it's going to be awesome when I'm done with it.

Try Scionlife.com - the Scion xA and xB (1st generation) have a great deal in common with the Echo, especially mechanically. This site even has specific info in the Tech section for the Echo, but much of the other stuff should also apply. The DIY for changing struts should prove helpful to you.

so 333258 for front, 343295 for back axle

echodrivers is a good resource, but only if you can get the admin to turn your account on

go to scionlife....xa and xb1 use mostly the same parts for intake, header, exhaust, suspension, brakes, wheels/tires

Although our steering wheels are on the other side, www.ozecho.com might also have some info for you.

Guys, I would like to buy new wheels and tires. From what I have read on this forum, I should first install the shocks+struts before I buy new wheels?

Nope, do it in what ever order you like. You will need to get a front wheel alignment after you install the front struts though.

I read in another thread that when a car is lowered, the wheel and tire options change because of the drop.

Ok, I see where you are coming from. If you are getting wider wheels than yes, you have to be careful how much you lower the car.

I haven't figured out what I want to do with wheels and tires yet. I know I'd like bronze, but I'm not sure about sizes yet. Mainly because I don't know much about sizes. I have read (on yarisworld) that it's best to stay under 17s and even them it might be better to go smaller for fuel economy or something like that.

Personally, 16" is as big as you should go on the Echo. 15" is the perfect size for performance/weight.

Agreed.
14's for rally, 15's for road, 17's for wank.

Lmfao wank.

So yall agree 15-16s would be best? What about tires? Should i go with tires that have a very low profile, or what would look/perform best?

I want my car to look good, but fuel economy comes first.

hey! an echo driver! woo. nice to see you around.

i drive a black 2k sedan, and i just got some wheels recently. 15x7 drag dr34s with kumho ecsta ast's 205/50/15. it didn't seem to hurt performance at all, the wheels aren't too heavy. it obviously looks sweet, and traction is sooo much better. i haven't noticed a significant decrease in MPG, maybe 1-2 at most.

x2 on the 205/50 R15. It's a good all round tire size.

195/50/15 is the best size for echo.
if you go 16'', 195/45/16

Does everyone recommend the same tire size in the front and back? I know some people for other cars get wider tires in the back or sometimes just bigger too.

Bluevitz-rs

For safety reasons, always put the same size and make tires on all four wheel.

Really!?

Lol, I have two different makes right now. :( I hope I'll be safe until I replace them!
