I seldom see discussion regarding Toyo Tires.
Your comments on the following models would be appreciated.

PROXES R1R Extreme perf. for serious street driving, sport coupes/sedans.
PROXES T1R Ultra-High perf. street for high-end sport sedans and coupes.
PROXES 4 Ultra-High Perf. A/S for sport compacts, sports coupes, ...

The descriptions you have are pretty accurate.

The Proxes 4 is a mundane all-season tire. Comparable to the factory Yaris tires, probably a little bit better.

The T1-R is an excellent all-around street tire. I consider it a "touring" tire. It has really good grip, but sluggish turn-in. Smooth ride, quiet and comfortable. Great in the rain.

The R1-R almost like a race tire with grooves. Amazing grip, stellar response. But, it's going to wear like a race tire... quickly.

From my own personal experience with the T1R's, I find them superior in terms of grip. The compound is very soft though.. and so the tire wears out very very quickly.. It's performance in the wet is outstanding, handles just like it's in the dry.

I find it a tad noisy though..

I'm looking at Falken FK-452's as my next tire when these Toyo's go out!

I run R1R's as my street tire, and have done three racing days on them as well.

AMAZING, best tire I've ever had on a car. You won't get 20,000 miles out of them. So there's your review, from me.

I've had several sets of these. Great tyre when new, but they wear out extremely quickly. Scary wet traction when about half worn... which isn't too darn long!

I think I'll look another direction. My application is a 100 kilometer daily driver so reasonable lifespan and wet performance are necessities.

Try Falken Ziex ZE502. Long-lasting, excellent dry grip, very good wet grip, and cheap. Just a little noisy compared to OEM's.

I bought mine in almost new condition and had them for 15K miles. So far they still look and work exactly like they did right after installation, even after 3 track events.

Sorry to awaken an old thread but I think it would be best to use existing thread rather than creating a new one, especially when there are some references on the thread regarding specific topic.

I just replaced my OEM wheels and tires last Sunday. My wheels is Advanti Storm Series (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23609) weighting at 4.9 Kg (10.9 lbs), & I replaced my OEM tires with Toyo Proxes R1R.

I originaly was looking for Bridgestone Potenza R01 (R11 is not available in Indonesia) but the shop does not have it. The shop owner told me R1R traction performance was equal, if not better than the R01. I have not read any reviews about the tire before buying but there is no other performance stock in the shop other than R1R, R888, & local performance tire (Achilles & Forceum) so I bought R1R.

First impression, R1R is the best tire that I have ever owned. However, I read some reviews around the internet world and Toyo website showing a thread life level of 2.0 comparing to other Toyo lines.

I live in Indonesia where the lowest temperature even during raining season in our country, more specifically in Jakarta, is 24 Celcius (at night). My average daily driving range is 55 Km (31 miles) and average monthly is around 240 km (149 miles). The road in my country is not silky smooth with some potholes and speed bumps in my area. With the traffic jam, my average daily driving speed is 50 Km/h (31 mph). My average weekend speed is 140 Km/h (87 Mph). I keep a habit of doing a full maintenance (rotation, balancing, & alignment) every 5,000 Km (3,106 miles) of usage.

I do not regret my buying decision but I just want to know how long the thread would last with my typical usage and road condition. Just an additional information, I always stop and let the auto transmission move the car with combination of minimum acceleration and brakes when there is no other choice but to go through the potholes.

I have never used extreme performance summer tire before so I really need some inputs.

What size did you get? The 195/50R15 has a much different compound than the rest of the series. The R1R is rated at 140 treadwear, which means "140% of wear compared to a baseline tire." There is rarely any info about the "baseline" tire, but in general a higher treadwear rating means longer life under normal conditions.

I have a set of Dunlop Direzza DZ101 (205/50R15) which have a 300 treadwear rating. After a summer of "spirited" driving and 4 or 5 autocross events the front tires show significant wear but the rears are in very good shape.

Beyond that, I'm not sure what other advice to offer you.

My tire is 195/55 R15. I was also looking for Dunlop Direzza DZ101 but it is not available in the market. Many of great products, automotive or other kind of products, are not available in the country. :(

I read the treadwear rating in Toyo websites and on the tire said R1R was rated at 140 but I think treadwear is no good without knowing what the baseline is. I always replace my tires every 2 years or 25,000 Km, whichever comes first. I hope that I could reach at least 20,000 Km when the time comes to replace the tires in 2015.

Otherwise, I might as well thinking about replacing the tires now as they are still new and I could get a good trade in price.
