I was on my way to work in the summer of 2006, a dog who apparently lost its will to live stepped out into the fast lane. Fred, the name my 2yr old gave my Yaris and I did are best to avoid the dog, but we clipped him on the drivers side. I drove the car home at a much reduced speed. Damage included: German Shepard KIA, bumper skin, lower A arm, driverside strut, broken axle, about 2 weeks in the shop and 3,500 later good as new. Anyone else crack up a Yaris and live to tell?

@ the OP, I hope insurance paid, or you got bent over by your mechanic. With labor a strut, a-arm, axle and new bumper should've been half that, and been in and out in a day or two max.

Yep, Hit a wood crate at 70 MPH. 4:30 AM so didnt see it till too late to swerve without rolling it. Estimate was 700 to fix so No mechanical damage and I am not going to fix it as I bought this car for the gas savings not looks.

The dog damage happened with 12,000 on the odometer, Fred now has close to 80,000 and has had no other issues mechanical or accidental. My daughter has recently informed me that Fred the Yaris is married to Daphne the Camry and when they have a baby it will be Shaggy the Tundra!

I think if Fred and Daphne are having Shaggy... someone's not being truthful. Is there a Sequoia milk truck in your area?
