Any of you planning to take another step up the Solo ladder and entering the Divisional in June?

Two day event at a great site, cash prizes. We have been kicking around the idea of taking the slicks off, and putting on some Rs so we can enter CSM instead of EP.

What do you think Garm, lets see if our all motor car can keep up with your beast?

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up. It's also posted here:

Hmm, $80 gets you a party invite and a t-shirt... $40 for single day FTW!

It is not really crazy at all, just works like two single events for the most part. I doubt it will get 300 people, the natl tour did not hit that with more money on the line. The idea with these is that it helps to prepare you for the National Championships.

You have a few extra items to deal with... There are some required decals that you have to run, cost like $6. And at the end of each days competition for your class there is impound - this happens in grid, you are typically held there for 30 min after your runs. This allows results to be completed and checked for mistakes, and gives you the opportunity to look at your competitors cars. Impound is hands off, just visual. If you think someone is not compliant with the class rules you file a protest. But at a Divisional this rarely happens. In 2008 we did a three event West Coast Div series - San Diego, Cal Club and San Fran - out of the three events there was one protest.

This is a much lower key event than the Tour that went on last month in San Diego, but is a step up from a local event. I think best part is that this does bring in some talent from other parts of the SW. While we do have a very talented local group here, it can be a real eye opener when you go to a bigger event.

You can cut out your own numbers and class ID. But you have to use the three SCCA decals and the Tire Rack windshield banner.

Where we staying? haha. La Quinta Inn in Irvine is pretty close. OR, camp out in my back yard? Plenty of yard space. Im sure my roomies would be okay with that. Im not sure if my bedroom will be cleaned up in time for me to drop my air mattress on the floor- LOL

As for the Honda...hehe. It's a sad story, actually. I need to work on my Yaris brakes. I need to get some new R-comps :( As I noticed my very-well-worn Toyos didn't heat up worth a damn at the last event (RA1s- I'm using them cuz the wheels aren't bent!)

I'm still debating on running azenis tires in CSM. Weird, I know. Damn, I need to sell some stuff and get me a set of R-comps.

Garm, hehe. Another reason to run the Honda....I'm actually placing now!
2nd place (out of 4) and 3rd (out of 3, but that should have been 1 of 1, but that's another story).
My times are actually decent enough to place in the top 5-7 spots in CST ! ! (out of 15+ entries)

I think the R6s would be an improvement. I'll keep ya posted :)

So Garm, I take it you're running both days? hehe... cool. Friday party? I want my free tee.

How are you gonna do this AND the GMR (http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28085) meet on the same Saturday?

You can do a one day only entry. I know #142 in CSM is running Saturday only - so the worst you can do is second if you run both days.

Garm, think of this way: You can come cruise with us, then afterwards go straight down to El Toro for the rest of the weekend. And you can leave your R-comps in my garage so they're being knocked around during the cruise. Then you can come get 'em afterwards. It's only 10 mins away from my place

Don't forget, Friday test and tune at El Toro from 12-4.

Just show up (but it is for people running the Divisional, it is not an open practice). Last I heard $3 a run. I will be there trying to figure out how to make an Evo go fast.

Just got back from aligning the Evo, that thing was messed up. The owner was trying some crazy stuff before he gave up and parked it a year ago, it had nearly -6 of camber in the front.

A 300+hp Yaris sounds like fun... I may just take you up on that.

cool two questions

1. run/work order is same for both days?

2. this is the first time I've seen a friday test 'n tune. So people who show up friday get to learn the course? or is it run backwards, etc?

1. Yes, same both days. *sometimes people do not work in the group listed, but in these cases it is specialty jobs like chiefs and such.

2. The test and tune course is a separate course, you never get a preview of the competition course. At Div and Natl events you typically run the course one way on Sat, and the other on Sun. The T&T course is usually shorter, 30 sec range at most sites, but El Toro has enough space for a larger practice course - the limitation at ET is if there are enough cones and workers. This is just a chance to get some practice, and tune your car for the surface if you have not run there enough to be familiar with it.

I wanted to show up Friday for the party (but mostly for my tee shirt!!).
Can I make a pass too? WOOO HOOOOOOOO. I think I got three bucks here somewhere!

UGH! There was a mixup. Corrected the entry list to show me in CSM. Why it was CST, no idea.

Jason, the course walk is done the day before on these events?

The course is set up the day before, I was just out there and they are nearly done, this allows you to walk the day before if you like. But we have shown up the day of and walked before the event starts, just like at a Regional. There is also a lunch break, and you can usually get in a walk then.

At the close of runs Sat they will make adjustments to the course, and then you will be able to walk the Sun course.

Yeah, that was one of the longest autox course I have seen. GPS data shows it at just over 1.2 miles. But is was fast, fun and challenging.

The six or so runs I took on the practice course were not enough to dial in the Evo. It worked pretty well in practice, beating the 2009 Natls STU runner up by about half a second. But the practice course was nothing like the real deal. The long sweepers just punished the Evo, from the center off I just could not pick up the throttle early. We made some alignment changes Saturday night, and that freed up the back of the car, but to little to late... Had to settle for 3rd on the weekend.

But it was still fun, I had always wanted to try one of the rally cars. With some more suspension work the car could be a winner.

Could not help but notice Garm did not show up for his CSM beat down.

THANKS GARM ! ! (for not showing up)
I took second place!!! Out of 3 on Sat, and out of 2 on Sun.
You would have LOVED the course.

Made some new friends, including Jason's pal in the CSM 1st place Miata. Spent quite a bit of time with him on Sunday. Cool guy.

Good time. I was so tired both days though.
