How about a bonfire meet at Dockweiler State Beach towards the end of may? Throw out some dates and I will set it up?

The beach is located in Playa Del Rey, CA.

The bonfire is often part of a ritual of purification and consecration. In ancient times, cattle, important symbols of wealth and status, were led through the smoke of a bonfire. Couples who were to be wed on May Day would leap through the flames of the bonfire to seal their vows. Coal from a bonfire would be taken home to light the fires in family hearths, a practice thought to bring good fortune. It was also believed that the residents of the Faery realm were incapable of producing fire themselves; embers of bonfires would be carried to the underworld and tended there.


I presume this will be at night and this is what we're going to do? :w00t: I'll suggest May 29, Saturday.

We should have a prize for the best ghost story.:eek:

19th is good. I got still got a single piece of wood from my last bonfire that I need to get rid of too.

Also, may I suggest starting it with a DuraFlame log? It usually gets the fire going quickly

It's no little wedge of wood I'll tell you that much lol. It was actually a big chunk that came from one of those plastic-wrapped bundles you get from the store. It was the last of a bundle that never got burned last time so it's been sitting around in a plastic bag for a while in the garage collecting dust. Guess I finally have an excuse to make use of it now. See you then!

I am sorry everyone, but I was just told that I have to be at a family function both June 12th and the 19th. If anyone wants to step up and host this meet, feel free to do so, if not I can set it up for July. Please let me know. One again, my apologies!
