$%#!!*?*&@#$$+

How in the world does anyone get an avatar to work around here? I've got a little 100x88 jpeg that no matter how I save it comes out to be too many kilobytes. I've removed color profiles, and saved at quality ZERO, and it still comes out nearly 30k using Photoshop. Can someone please, please help?

Hey why?, if you read this, how did you get yours to look so darn good and only be 14k???????

Well.....huh.

Never mind, then! I found this thing in Photoshop called "Save to Web" that, for some reason, makes the pic size smaller and higher quality than just saving it as a standard JPEG. That makes no sense (why wouldn't you want to do it that way all the time if it's better?), but anyway, as you can see, I got something to work! yay!

why?

Cool, lol.

I use a picture program to resize and redo all my stuff, can't remember the name at the moment, it is on my home computer.

But just as you did I played around with it until it worked.

Actually, I just checked and I think my avatar is hosted off site too. It is 15kb.

try saving it as a GIF, the file size will drop alot.

Save for Web creates a web-optimized, 72 dpi JPEG image. This image however would not be suitable for professional printing purposes, so this is why you would save it as a standard high-resolution JPEG...
