View Full Version : Yaris S Sedan Clazzio GB Feeler

Alright, so I am not sure about others, but I am a bit tired of being left out of the awesomeness and cost effectiveness that is Clazzio just because I have the Sport. I am not sure if the Sport seats have changed (USDM) from 07 to 10 however I am hoping that we can come up with at least 10 peeps that would be not just interested, but would actually purchase a Clazzio set. So let's see what we can get going eh? Do we have enough interest to have our buddy Garm get us an order going? I am sure that price would be a valid question, but unless there is enough interest shown then I would not want Garm to bother with the communications with Clazzio since it is in Japan. Thanks.
NOTE: THIS IS FOR THE S MODEL ONLY! IF YOU HAVE THE STANDARD YARIS BE IT SEDAN OR LB THEN THIS IS NOT THE THREAD FOR YOU. NOT TRYING TO BE A HARD A$$, JUST TRYING TO GET THE POINT ACROSS THAT ANY OTHER YARIS HAS THE ABILITY TO GET THE COVERS ON THEIR OWN.
Just for quick reference this is what Garm has for colors and materials:

07 hatch. I'm planning on buying a set within six months or so ( it's a money saving incentive to delay spending ). If a gb could result in cost savings, I'm likely to join in.
Was planning to buy the set from microimage, and add leather arm rest and shifter boot with red stitches. That's gonna make me poor for a long time, so naturally, it's on my 6 month horizon... Like, if I still have a job in 6 months etc.

Heya swidd, the trouble tho is that my GB hopes would be specific to the S model as their seats are shaped different than the standard. To be honest a discount would be nice, but at this point all I am really looking for is the ability to even get Clazzio and Garm has stated that he needs a minimum of 10 peeps. The 07 hatch has standard seats therefore availability for it is pretty good. Thanks for the note tho.

04-24-2010, 11:57 PM
Well according to the below thread the seats are the same for the 07-10 model therefore that means that anyone with the S (at least on the Sedan, need verification that the seats are the same for the S LB) from all years USDM could effectively be considered.

I am always in support of a Group Buy. I think Clazzio would consider it if there were ten very interested/confirmed customers. It's a pretty big deal for them to measure and develop a product for a small market.
with that said, bring it on and I'll do my best.

Did your car come with the full power package? Apparently the power package was the one that came with the seats that are more contoured on the sides like a racing seat would be as well as the headrest...perhaps Garm could shed some better light?:iono: Maybe I need to take a couple pics in the morning...

The interior are all the same in the sedan from S to the basic. All there is in difference is color and material

The difference is between the power package and non power package models. I don't know what they are as it just specified upgraded interior. I have 2 07's one with power package and one without. When I get some more free time I will take pics of both seats and posts. May be a couple of days but I will get to it.
With that said my wife's non power package seats feel different than mine, they seem to sit higher and just feel different. I would be interested in this but I would like to know how much they are gonna be or a general idea.

Ok, So I took a few pics quick so hopefully it sheds some light. I also called the stealership and they did state that the seats for the S model are different. They need to call me back on whether or not it is only the Power Package or not.

Yup, S Sedan...I am wondering now at this point if possible it is the fabric portion that is the same and only the mount/base and mechanisms that are different? Like I said I am still waiting for the stealership to call me back...I cannot recall...do the standard seats have the pockets in the backing of the front seats?

Well to be honest if I find out that I could have gotten the current seat covers all along I will be a bit upset, but hey, on the flip side of the coin if this truly confirms that it is only a pattern difference and upgrade in seat fabric construction then great because it will finally be known. Oh....the stealership is calling....
JumpmanYaris
04-27-2010, 11:48 AM
Like I said its all the same
fnkngrv
04-27-2010, 11:58 AM
According to the stealership the frame/base is the same part number. When it comes to the cushion portion they stated that there are multiple part numbers for those parts of the seats however they cannot verify whether or not that is only due to fabrics or actual cushion shape/form.
fnkngrv
04-27-2010, 12:01 PM
There is something different about the seats besides fabric, I think. When I drive my wife's car the seat feels different, Like I sit higher and it is not bolstered as much or something. Again this could just be the difference between my car being lowered but they feel different. I would do pics today but don't have access to both cars.
I really do think that it is the cushion bolstering/shape/form as I have had a standard sedan as a rental and the seat definitely felt different hence my confusion in regards to this whole situation...:iono:
My parts guy at the stealership is going to do more digging for me and I will let you know of course what he finds...

Yes I did, I asked if could feel the interior of 2 or 3 yaris sedan and the guy agreed but he was kind of confused as to why did I needed to so I explained about us and a possible group buy on covers so he said "oh they all are the same but just some difference in where the stiching is located and the material" I guess he was speaking of the fabric, I did agree with him, the stiching looked different from my seats but the seats where all the same in shape and feel

Also I will be talking with Garm on Wednesday to discuss this as especially if the seats are not a genuine issue we may be able to make this a reality much easier.
fnkngrv
04-28-2010, 12:40 PM
Camelll, it looks like there may be a little more padding in one compared to the other however I would think that it is it great enough of a difference to cause the currently sold covers an issue with being installed?
fnkngrv
04-28-2010, 09:04 PM
Alright, I had a call with Garm and what we came down to is that I am gonna possibly (but hopefully not) take one for the team and I have ordered my full set. I will verify that the fitment is correct to dispel any possible question of compatibility. If we are a 100% then actually I will help Garm get a GB set up for all USDM Yarii LB or Sedan because the larger the order the larger the discount. Be advised that it will take 30 to 60 days for my covers to arrive as I had a custom set ordered. I will have black PVC outer with tan stitching and tan leather inside. I will post pics once installed.
Garm has his normal prices already posted so right now he could only tell you the most that you would spend. If he can get 20 orders together for example then the discount would be greater than if it was 10 or 10 would be better than 5...you get the picture.
fnkngrv
04-28-2010, 09:55 PM
Good luck I hope it works out, The one that looks like it has more padding is the power package one. The odd number pictures are base without power package and the even number ones are with power package. I am sure you guys figured that out already but I thought I would throw it out there.
Yeah, after Garm and I talked on the phone I am pretty confident that Clazzio's concerns are with the RS seats so we will see. Keeping fingers crossed, especially since I got a custom color combo...might be tough to resell if they don't work!

Well, today was to be a day of joy and exultation however alas it is not...i received my Clazzio box. I was like a kid in a candy store. I opened the box with great care and carefully lifted out the instruction booklet placing it on a table face down as I was so excited to see the covers. I looked them over and they looked spectacular, however when I picked up the book to read through it I noticed the cover stated for the Liftback! I planned on installing them this afternoon off and on while dodging my job. I read through the book and found the distinction of how the headrests for the LB actually sit down into the upper seat which is not the case with the sedan. I was really hoping that they just sent the wrong book with the right covers however much to my chagrin that was not the case. I contacted Garm right away and he contacted me back within minutes so we are going to work to resolve the issue. Clazzio made the error, not Garm. I am glad that we have a supporting vendor that is so quick to respond and work toward a resolution when something goes awry.
I would wager that it would be another few months for me to receive my covers at this point.

There have been plenty of people that have done it themselves. I will be taking care of the work myself, especially since I will be installing my heated seat kits. I suppose that you could take them to a shop and depending the shop would be the cost. I spoke with the local shop when I got the LB covers by mistake and after looking at them the guy said 200 bucks....no justification....just 200 bucks.

Well after much frustration, sweat, and tears my covers arrived. They are finally installed and for clarification they fit the S Sedans just fine! Thanks go to JBougie (Jinni Lynn) for her assistance with a lot of the job. Total time for install was around 10 hours. This was due to being sidetracked several times as well as making a few mistakes along the way. I took before photos along with a couple photos of the tools used to include beer.
The front seats pretty much went without a hitch after we decided to pull the seats out of the car. I did make a mistake and used a 10mm 6 point socket to remove the seat bolts rather than a Torx socket however we did run to AutoZone and picked up a 4 piece Torx set to put them back in. You pretty much are going to strip the bolts if you use a regular socket so BEWARE! Other than that on the passenger side the removal of the Airbag Circuit Board was a PITA. We ended up unscrewing it from the housing and removing that way.
The rear seats were the real challenge. Jinni and I tried 50 different ways from Sunday to pull the bench, but ultimately after much sweat and cussing we called it quits. I stopped by a local upholstery shop and the guy popped the bench in under 10 seconds much to my chagrin. I would actually recommend doing the same if you have the opportunity to do so because it is easy to ruin the bench cushion. That stupid piece of foam will set you back 500 bucks if you have to replace it. Another item of note is that I did have to make a small incision at the slit point for the c bracket that secures the seat in the upright position for the passenger side of the rear seat. No matter how I manipulated the cover I could not get the hole to line up correctly from top to bottom. The slit was also not wide enough for the bracket. I make the incision with an exacto knife and then used 3m tape to tape the flap I created inside the cover. Really even with the seat down you can't notice, but I still had to do it. The whole for the pull knob on the driver's side rear seat section seemed to be too small so it took me almost 10 minutes to get it to seat correctly just by itself. Other than that the only thing that I could really comment on would be fitment on the main cover for the passenger side rear seat back around the pivot bar for the arm rest could have been better.
All in All I give the whole experience a 4 out of 5. The covers are magnificent however the actual install process is a bit stressful. If you have the money and the inclination I would have a shop install them to be liable if there is any tearing around the different mounting holes because if you have little patience then you will most likely tear them as others have noted. Thanks Garm for working so hard to ensure that I had the right product in the end!
Last item is that I also did the initial install of my heated seat kits. They are ready to be wired in once I get my climate control bezel back from being CF wrapped by Brian.

This is the interior that my car has. Do they make leather seat covers for this style?
I don't believe that they are made for the deeper seats, but not 100%. When I bought mine I took a 400 dollar risk and it paid off luckily since we were all worried that they would not work for the S model Sedan. They do and nicely.
