I picked up a couple of extra Double Din radio trim pieces with a recent order of European parts. This radio trim allows a Double DIN radio to be mounted without requiring the filler pieces (such as the Metra kit). Below is a picture of the trim piece, as well as a picture of my Eclipse head unit with the trim piece.
I didn't order enough to get a price break, so these are $80 shipped.
The opening fits most Double DIN HU's, but please check the dimensions of yours before purchasing. The opening is 172 mm (6 13/16") wide x 101.6mm (4") high. Most HUs will need to be pushed in a bit, which will require removing the alignment "bumps" on the stock radio brackets (by grinding or hammering them flat).
