Alright, Garm has just posted the below sticker on his vendor site microimageonline.com and in his thread he has stated that if we could come up with 50 emblems sold then he would do what it takes to have them actually made. These emblems would replace the Toyota emblems on our cars; this would be a real molded aluminum emblem, 3d just like OEM. I will be the first on the list. I would not expect Garm to look into it nor provide pricing without serious interest so let's go YW...if you think it is cool and would buy then get on the list! :w00t:

Alright, after having a long discussion with Garm in regards to this we think that the best option for pricing and ability to even get this done would be to have for example rears only made and have them tooled in aluminum to provide the 3d effect like an OEM emblem. This would allow those that wish to polish the emblem to get the shiny sheen like a chrome piece and those that would wish to just paint the emblem to what ever color they want, be it matte black, glossy black, white, etc...

The LB and Sedan have different emblems so that means that we will need to fix the list to identify which you would wish to purchase. Also it needs to be understood that going the aluminum route will make a huge difference as Garm would have a lot invested up front going the plastic route which he might never recover cost on.

Depending on how well he is able to sell the rears may be able to warrant having the fronts done down the road or even up front...it all depends on interest. When it comes to cost, that will also be up in the air until the real demand is figured out. He did give a base example of the Netz/Vitz badging costing roughly 20 per emblem however that is a normal sale and not a GB. I have modified the numbers then for each member and ask that you either verify via PM or in the thread on whether or not you want to move forward with the new info as well as verifying whether you want LB or Sedan.

I don't see why it would not be front and rear, it just takes a minor elliptical manipulation of the design to compensate for the rear.

If by singles you mean (1) single set consisting of a front and rear, then that would be correct.

However you're writing them down, I would like (1) for the front and (1) for the rear of a LB.

DevilGirl brings up a valid point on whether or not we are talking about singles or pairs. Right now I am listing as singles as I believe that Garm would be selling them as singles and not pairs since many people may prefer to only replace either just the front or the back and would not want to feel like they would be wasting one if bought in a pair. I will further clarify with Garm however for now I am calculating as single units.

I will update the thread in the morning with the latest entries. Once again to be sure that peeps understand these will be aluminum emblems that can be polished or painted. After talking it over with Garm this is the only way that we could swing with the lower quantities that we are realistically looking at. IE, a fabricator would normally want to have a vendor purchase in the 500 or 1000 lot batches.

That is a sweet looking emblem however that would be for the front correct? Currently we are looking at the rear only, but if it was truly successful then perhaps we can spin up something for the front as well.

In regards to someone's previous question, all four emblems are actually different in size (LB Front, LB Rear, Sedan Front, Sedan Rear) hence the sticky situation that could become an issue for a vendor as they would have to make quite an investment up front that could ultimately cause then to have a crapload of inventory collecting dust depending on demand.

Already noted...just as an FYI and clarification these items will be made with aluminum therefore if you wish for a "chrome" look then you will need to polish or send it away to be chromed. The reason for going aluminum has been previously noted.

I would imagine that if you choose not to add any color and go for a polished aluminum look, (most likely my plan) you would still need to give it a application of somer sort of clear paint to seal it and keep it from weathering,etc.

Yup, the rest is debadged, no emblems on the wheels, or rear, so all that's left is the front and rear toyota emblem... I'd really rather shave the front or swap bumpers to get rid of it, and just go with the skull rear, but skull front and rear would be cheaper than the body work. I may just get two rears if that's all they are making and play around with the front to make something up.

The ones that are being made are for the rear. The fronts are different proportions.

liftback rear ones are in production, deposit paid, and 500 will show up sooner or later.

Sedan ones not ordered yet, as I don't have the exact dimensions needed. I requested before that a sedan come by my shop so I can do some measurements - that didn't happen. Any sedan owner want to contribute their rear emblem for R&D so we can take care of you guys too? :smile:

you can thank TK-421, he twisted my arm really hard and I decided to stay. I was fed up and still am with those internet people that troll and have nothing better to do than not use tact nor respect for others when they decide to flame people. It is straight short bus and very immature. The thing is that people can argue all day long that it happens EVERYWHERE, but that just isn't the case. I am part of two other forums that next to never encounter rudeness like that.

Here are pics of the mold prototype, which I have approved. Chroming will be done in 2 weeks, then shipping to me. So, figure 3-4 weeks more to have them in hand.

Once they are shipped, I'll put them up in the store so people can start buying them before they get here.

CLARIFICATIONS:

1. These are designed to replace the REAR Toyota emblem on the Yaris liftback. No guarantees on fitment anywhere else or for any other car.
2. They come in CHROME. If you want black or any other finish, you'll have to do that step yourself.
3. These will probably be able to replace the front emblem too, but some modification will be required as the front emblem is two pieces, thicker, and attaches with tab snaps.

I had to commit to a large number of pieces, and don't break even until I sell about 250 of them. In other words, this is a non-profit venture for now. Doing this over for another model (sedan) or another car would require a very long group buy list.

UPDATE 9/30: Emblems are almost done at the factory.

Shipment will be sent to me next Wed. by EMS, so about another week to get to me. As soon as I see the shipping charges, I will put them up in the store -- chrome & unfinished.

hey garm..so let me get this straight.. the unfinished ones will be the same price as the chrome ones? i think i want unfinished so i can black it out. but might get a chrome one as well.. and final question... on a 09 hatch... are the front emblem the same size as the rear? i know they connect differently but i figure if body tape is good for the back then body tape will be good for the front. i am definitely willing to try that.
