in process of a nice little 1200 mile road trip with my Yaris... so far i wouldn't take any other car on a road trip. we left NY on Tues and are 450ish miles in (in VA) and are leaving for Phily this afternoon. I'm amazed at how comfortable this car is for longer drives and the fact that is was about a tank of gas to get us this far. as if i haven't said it enough but, I LOVE THIS CAR!!!! the only problem experienced so far... after 7 hours total and not shifting for about 200 miles on one continuous stretch i almost forgot how to work the clutch properly with gummy feeling legs... haha but that is entirely driver error!

if only we have as nice quality freeways as you guys have around the tristates and philis...i remember going down there last summer and most of the freeways were like FRESHLY paved throughout and between states!

Uh? I live in this area, and I'm still missing the endless highways of I-15 in Nevada...

Anyways, do you have the cruise control mod? I've began doing shorter road trips of 200 miles almost every other day, just for the fun of driving with cruise control and a sound system. I'll just go for a Starbucks in New York, or in Baltimore, and just roll there on like 1/4 tank of gas.

... but the comfort of the highways around here is not the reason I drive :/

I remember driving from philadelphia all the way to virginia to go to Liberty University for my cousins graduation, 9 1/2 trip, I drove a straight 8 hours to my aunts house and slept for 1 hour and then left for the next 1 1/2- 2 hour trip to the university. I think I filled up twice round trip, not bad at all.

the road trip has been great so far, there is one day left. nice weather, pretty good traffic and great family. i'm still amazed though, we just put gas into the Yaris for the third time which will get us home and then some making our total for the road trip 64$ and change... not bad for about 20 hours and 1200 miles. and no i never did the cruise control mod... luckily enough i enjoy driving though (my friend can't drive stick either so it has all been me) but i do have better speakers in it so the music makes it more enjoyable too. i would recommend every Yaris owner take it on at least one road trip just so they can fully admire it in all of its comfortable gas sipping glory haha!
i was hoping to see another Yarisworld sticker along the way, but no luck yet... we'll see on the last 5 hours tomorrow :-)

you won't regret it!!! all in all we spent 64$ in gas and had absolutely no problems with my little car. it does seem a little cramped after 8 straight hours of driving... but i think any car would.

I have only had my Yaris about 6 weeks, I haven't had a chance to really try it on the interstate. Driving on the freeway to work does not count! I'll be able to drive about 300 miles on the interstate over Memorial Day weekend.
I used to make cross-country drives way back when I had a Chevy Sprint. My last car was a 91 Civic, that was becoming less and less enjoyable to drive with each passing year. Now I have a car with a working radio and AC! I bought one a Yaris without cruise control, maybe I will spring for a CC mod one of these days.
