I bought a batch of these "Push To Start" trim pieces from Europe. These are used on European Liftbacks, which have the Push To Start feature. They fit perfectly with the JDM Vitz, Camry, Avalon, or Lexus PTS switch.

I bought enough to get a reasonable discount, so these are $30 shipped.

Here are some pictures of the piece and of one in my 09 Liftback with a JDM Vitz PTS switch installed.

How hard is it to wire up the actual button?

No. I believe that the only sedans that have Push Button Start are right hand drive.

How hard is it to wire up the actual button?

I created a module that works with the OEM Engine Start/Stop Switch, and lets the switch start and stop the engine (and it drives the LEDs on the OEM switch).

There are 5 wires that connect between the switch and the module, 3 wires that connect to the ignition switch and one wire that gets tied to chassis ground.

Here's a video of the switch in action, which also explains the installation:

So how much would it be for the whole set up? (trim piece, push to start button, and the module)

Trim: $30 shipped
Module: $55 shipped
Switch: $35+ on eBay or ~$70 from your local dealer

The switch connector and pins are expensive from the dealer and hard to find from junkyards, so it is most cost effective to solder to the pins. If you purchase a switch and ship it to me I will do the soldering to the module wires (with an inline connector to make installing it easier) for no extra charge.

The picture above of the module and switch is an example of a direct wired switch - That one is alainmikli's TRD PTS switch, which I assembled for him last weekend.

Great Scott!! This is a great deal for an OEM trim piece with shipping!!

If I had the extra funds laying around, I'd definitely do this!!

Bump!!

Would you happen to know if your start button would work in a 06 Scion xA?

I am not sure if the switch would be the same for the xA, but my module should work the same on an xA.

Would your module work even if the yaris has a remote start installed?

Yes. I recently made some changes to how I determine that the car is started to allow it to work properly with remote start.

Just as a heads up when you pull the right hand trim piece off from the center console there is a round hole which looks to be that size to accommodate the push to start mechanism. I was going to use that hole for another project however this has my mind moving in a different direction. All one with a sedan would have to do is punch out the correct size hole and then would be able to mount the PTS I would wager.

Any insight or ideas on this CTScott?

I just ran into this picture of Cyberfrogg's. This hole to the left of the radio is the PTS switch mounting hole:

Yup...that is it which means that if the part number could be found then there must be a replacement panel for the sedan overseas that already has the hole as a factory spec...I was going to use it to run my USB for my HU through, but might need to 86 that idea and find a new spot as I kind of like the idea of the PTS...

No need - If you have a liftback, then your dash already has the hole to the right of the steering wheel with a plug in it. You just pop the plug and shove the switch in.

if its a RHD, wouldn't the hole be on the left of the steering wheel?

It definitely would work with a Malaysian Yaris. Shipping would be $10 to Malaysia.

trdsparks.com has them for ~$75.

Here are a couple of Lexus ones fro $50 from eBay. The Lexus ones work/fit fine, but the button is metallic gray, rather than black like the ones listed above.

Prius ones mount differently, so they won't work.
