Redyaris here.

Just saying goodbye. I've been lurking on the site and not participating for quite a while now as I dont like drama (and theres been too much on this site)....and I had done everything to the car that I wanted to. I work at home 100% now and no longer need a commuter econocar.

I've recently sold my Yaris and got my wife a Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder (pic attached). Its her turn to have fun. I'm going to slap some 18" chrome wheels on it, a chrome rear license plate frame, and I already have 6000K HID halo chrome projector replacement lights being shipped as I type...

I will tell you that I sold my Yaris (with all aftermarket parts still on it - no I dont have anything for sale) for 80% of what I paid for it almost 4 years ago. Best resale value i've ever received. High gas prices and good fuel economy will do that, not to mention having the coolest Yaris around

My car is on its way to Nova Scotia where the rest of its life will be spent in the frozen tundra driven by a 28 year old woman.

Best wishes to everyone. I enjoyed working on this car and i'll miss it.

The Spyder looks like fun!

Those Nova Scotians, like all Canadians, live in igloos and ride around on dogsleds. I guess she can get the dogs to pull the Yaris.

why?

no final pictures of your masterpiece?

that is rather cool to have a work at home job, good luck with that.

Got the HID halo projectors installed. On to the rims...

I NEVER want to have to remove the Eclipse bumper cover AGAIN. What a freaking PITA! 2 hidden bolts UNDERNEATH The two front fenders in the wheelwell. Took 2 long extensions on my wrench to get to them.

I could have had 10 Yaris front bumpers removed in the time it took for this one.

BTW, this car's 4-cylinder hauls ass, with slightly decreased fuel econ than with my liftback. Wish my Yaris had been as fast....

Im also evaluating front grille options...Grillcraft makes a nice set for the upper and lower areas. Hate that gaping open hole beneath the front bumper, I thought the car was missing a trim piece.

Paint it a different color, drop it, get new wheels, and get a hardtop, then you're in business. hehe

Engine 4-Cyl. 2.4 Liter
Horsepower 162 @ 6000 RPM
Torque 162 @ 4000 RPM
Curb Weight 3477 lbs.

That's like 50ish HP more than the yaris, but over 1000lbs heavier. can't be THAT much quicker, can it?

I thought the Spyder was automatically the 6 cylinder?

Where are all the haters from the other thread lol

the "after becoming bored to tears" comment brought the haters out, methinks. That being said, let me hate a little lol (just a little mind you  ) I have never been a big fan of the eclipses... I actually beat a modded previous generation in traffic on the highway (in my "underpowered" Yaris). It had shit for acceleration... But that one race aside, I guess I never really liked the styling... but to each their own

NEVER even seen this thread before but like the previous one about the shitclipse i had to bring it up.

im sure this model the the OP has is as hideous as the yaris it replaced.......

^ dont need to tell us twice man.

The way they speak on the forum (quoted from there - welcome to the cool club) and have their ego stuck far up their ass....really goes to show you what kind of community/people they are when it comes to knowledge and whatnot~

An Eclipse is a female's car...dont get why they think they are so cool making fun of us....unless they were GTR owners or something...then thats a different story.

Love that persons list...an Eclipse in the same line as a 350Z...? LOL
Guy has never been to Japan and sat in a real Fairlady...

redyaris - i have respect for you...just not the crowd you walked into :-/

don't judge the whole forum like that. Imagine if somebody came over from a Honda forum and he got bashed for leaving, some of our people would have done the same trash talking.

That being said, their level of pretentiousness is gross. A car is a car is a car is a car. If you like cars, you like cars. If you like ONLY YOUR CAR and have no respect for other makes/models.. then your opinion is void.

We've had our share of non Yaris and even non Toyota cars on here..we took it well, not as bad as THIS....
Hell someone bought a PT Cruiser and other cars, we were understanding of the situation and took it as friendly as possible.

There was only one time where a Corolla member came and this place blew up, but that was it~ That was back in 2007-2008...if i remember correctly.

From all the help we've given to the members that have fled for reasons and to show to go about posting our attitude in another forum...i find that disrespectful....try and find the same help elsewhere...I'll leave it at that....

It is what it is...ignorance.

I've heard the stories.

I'm just glad we have CTScott here on our forums. :)

no worries Betrivent

Chuck - i wish you were here to see it. What was funny about it was...that later we had people from 9th gen join us and vice versa we got invited to their big meets.

Without CTScott.....having my dash ripped apart, i would have sold the car back to the dealers.....its just too scary without his help
