Good place to find constant & switched 12V behind dash?

I'm looking to add some additional accessories to my 07 sedan that require constant/switched 12V. I thought about using vampire taps on those wires that supply my alpine HU, but I don't want to end up drawing too much current through them.

I was thinking about mounting this device on the drivers side, right above the little "pocket" opening on the dash console near the driver's right leg. Is there an easy place to grab constant/switched 12V from in that areas?

Try the fuse box. There should be a couple open 'slots' depending on your vehicles options. A voltage tester is your best friend...

as far as switched and constant sides of the fuse - the side (of the fusebox) closest to the engine offers constant power where the other side is switched on and off with the key (atleast my sedan is that way)

I mounted a telephone wall-mount recpt in the consule pocket next to the passenger's legs. It powers off the power recpt/cig socket. I plug my Bel 955 rd into it because the radar detector has a telephone plug-style connector (RJ-11?).

There is acc power constant power illumination and ground available behind the gage cluster. The wires power the clock.

well, just incase you guys didn't know. The yaris has constant +12v at anything you plug in. Use the ground point of your choice and you have power!
just beware how much power you are pulling from that fuse.

Basically, the cig lighter is always on, cept you need to ground it elsewhere when the ignition is not to "on"

So, where would be a good place to tap for the A1 aftermarket window and locks kits. I emailed A1 and according to them, you need 10-20amps for the locks, and 15-20 for the windows.

There is a large bushing through the firewall, just behind the fuse panel. It has plenty of space to poke holes through it without nailing the harness. It's in the middle of this pic:

By the way, the other side of the bushing is behind the battery. It is easiest to poke through from the dash side, and then find your wire under the hood...
