View Full Version : Bay area meet in last Friday of June

We can do the same location as last time but set it earlier like 6 if that works for everyone. That gives us ample time to chat eat and still have time for a cruise for those who want to afterwards.

One alternative location i can think of is Fudruckers in Union City. Cheap and room inside for large party as well as ample parking space in front. Also appears to be a central location between where most of us live.

http://www.yelp.com/biz/fuddruckers-union-city

Any other ideas for locations please post.

Fridays might not be so good for me anymore.

Just picked up a new job, I start in a week and a half!

I'll keep you updated. Also, Assad has something special planned for this summer I think.

BUMP~~~~

i didn't want to demolish this plan or anything Jason, had no intention.

This meet can still go as planned.
I will be busy w/ a few things, so i won't be able to make it out to this one, even though Union City is right around the corner for me.

Jason,

Maybe we can turn this meet into a modfest? I know Jonathan is picking up some new suspension parts and would like some help getting them on.

I'll also be pulling the trigger on a large purchase at MI in the next couple weeks. Details on the thread about my car on the MI forum =)

Rear Tokico Blues went in on Sat, an interesting experience using jack stands for the first time ever, paranoid of car falling on me LOL.

Front shocks will go in once i decide on springs...maybe ill take your DFs Sean.

yes please. I will have a set of tokico blues and tanabe DFs once I get my coilovers on.

a local buyer would be awesome. also NCVC members will definitely be eligible for an exclusive discount.

I wouldn't want to split up the springs.

If you want to buy front / back and only use front that's fine.

Also, would want to throw out a feeler thread first / check in with some people before splitting the springs and shocks in order to be able to sell them as a package as well.

let's plan to meet somewhere with lots of room?

I don't mind volunteering my house but don't have a ton of tools.

Did something happen to your car Jason?

Yeah some dumb ass backed into my car and messed up my bumper. I went to go home and found it damaged. Hit and run. Tomorrow insurance tells me how much the damage is going to be.

I can bring any tools we need. We should make a list of what mods people are going to be doing so i know what to bring.

can we agree on that? have all our mods nice and ready for photoshoot / cruise / bbq / awesomeness / etc

I love you all   but I can't do 880 going South on Friday night. I'm too fried at the end of the week to face 2.5 hours of trqaffic :frown: That's OK though, just have someone asks a lot of silly questions about the mods and pretend it's me ;)

I haven't done anything to my car since the exhaust tip anyway. :/

but I'm down for a bbque or something like that over the we.

Could we set it a bit later?

I think we should push the date a bit as sean suggests. I dont even have my car this week anyways either not sure what day i will be getting it back. If we want to find a place and time set in stone next month ill use it as a excuse to order some tokiko struts and camber bolts to put in as well.

Okay if we plan to do this we should plan it a all day thing. Like a saturday or a sunday. Those who want to work on cars can meet up early in the day and those who dont can still come watch/help or meet up afterwards like a normal meet. We just have to agree upon a time and place.

ezhacker1
06-23-2010, 06:39 PM
im down for an all day meet. Sounds FUN! Ill try some fitment stuff then.

We need a big enough place AND where we wont be harrased by people. So it cant be just some parking lot.

advocate
06-23-2010, 07:14 PM
My dad's new place might be perfect for this.

I've got a great idea. Let's have this meet the SOONEST possible time we can, when everyone will be ready.

For sure attending:
Sean - Not ready - needs coilovers first
Jonathan - Ready
Jason - Not ready - needs car back from shop first
Assad - Not between July 28th and August 17th - will be on vacation at that time
Pur Blu - Ready?

Copy / paste the above if you wish to update / change your status.

I am waiting on a pair of coilovers to come in. Until that point, I won't be ready.
I could be persuaded to go back to stock suspension temporarily if the coilovers are going to take too long to get in. I will get an ETA on the coilovers ASAP.

Update for me:

The used TEINs I was looking at don't provide an aggressive enough drop. Weighing my next options now.

Sean which teins were you using?? the SpecS or the Basics?? I've got the SpecS on my car and the drop is nice but i want a stiffer and yes more aggressive drop. I'm doing R&D now to make a set of one off coilovers.

Most of my performance i go with my gut and make my own design to my driving style. I'll keep you updated on my design, should come out to about 500bucks all the labor imma do myself.

Well this whole coilovers business has been a learning experience so far.

I was unaware that you could remove the spring perch in order to get an even bigger drop so the TEINs might be suitable for what I'm looking for. I'm going to shoot you a PM Pur Blu.

I've also PM'd the seller back saying that I might be interested in buying them again.

Keep in mind i think by doing that your spring rate will still be the same just the result is your car is a little lower. So where as you would normally not bottom out rub you will do so now. Where as coilovers i believe the perch moves up ward or downward preloads the spring slightly which changes the spring rate to compensate.

where as you would normally not bottom out rub you will do so now.

lots of people dumping the car on coilovers with no perch and not rubbing. depends on wheel/tire combo and how much weight is in the car.

you can always upgrade the springs later if you want to.

I should have refrased that to that you may instead of you will. Thats true its total dependant on what your current wheel and tire combo is now. I think sean is runing 195s so probally should be okay. As oposed to people runing a different offset with 205-215s

I'm volunteering my house. Directions / address will be PM'd out as needed.

I needa get these coilovers installed ASAP for Garm to test the fitment.

If I can't get these on this weekend then I am going to have to take them to a shop to get them put on.

If anyone is interested in picking up my Tokico Blues and Tanabe DF210's used I would encourage them to drop by. I wouldn't mind helping them install them on their car right after taking them off mine.

Im gona go to harbor freight tomorrow to pick up a cordless drill to install my lip kit. Ill see if they have a electric impact gun to speed things up. You have a area where we can work at sean thats close to an electrical outlet?

Im gona wake up around 7ish and be at your house about 8 then. I gota leave at around 11. So 3 hours should be plenty time to help remove your front struts and put in the new ones. If i get a impact gun we should have the job done in less than a hour probally.

Yes if not I will buy a big extension cord. We're going to work at my dad's house, we'll have a bit more privacy there and lot's more room.

8AM is incredibly early but I will definitely get up that early to accomodate free help.

By the way at the moment I don't have my jack stands. They are on loan to someone. I will see if I can get them back for this weekend.

If you guys want to swing by my house tomorrow I can help you even if you get off work late im off the entire day. going to be doing lots of projects tomorrow anyways. Days are longer so we will have lots of daylight. Tomorrow morning im going drive to harbor freight and pick up a cordless impact gun. Let me know if that works for you that way i can take home a bunch of tools from work today.

Sorry about that Taylor! No worries though because I'm sure Garm is going to be ordering at least 5 sets to put in stock now...

It's a great coilover set with a lot of adjustability but also maintains great comfort levels if you don't get bone-jarring spring rates on them. The set I got was 5k/5k and is perfect I think. See the thread on MI for my full review.
