View Full Version : Cheap sound system upgrade. I like it.
So I have an example that others have done similarly in their Yari that is working Excellently for me, and I would like to share it with you all.
- stock headunit
- Ipod plugged into AUX input
- front speakers changed to Kenwood KFC-1662S 6.5"s
- rear speakers unplugged
- Output converter (http://www.crutchfield.com/S-cPWlO3jrnxO/p_142SLC4/Scosche-SLC4.html?search=output+converter) rear speaker connections to RCA
- Amplifier
- Subwoofer
Quality 6.5" speakers deliver great sound in the mids and highs. Component speakers are a great option as well.
Getting rid of the rear speakers gives me a way to control the subwoofer from the headunit without worrying about sending a weird EQ to the rear speakers.
With the rumbling lows coming from the hatch and the rest of the sound coming from either side, it is like I'm surrounded by rich creamy sound.
With the very limited EQ controls of the stock headunit I can still jam to all kinds of different music and all volume levels. :headbang:

Awesome!
It's funny that was my plan at the beginning, and look where I am now...
How is the SLC4 working for you?,Where did you installed?
I still have mine, but planing to install this in my wifes car.
Derick.
The SLC4 works great for me. The sound I get from the subwoofer is nice and crisp and boomy as I like it, it doesn't cut out, gets the job done nicely.

What sub are you using? show us your install!

As I said, it's a cheap upgrade, so I've got a very inexpensive subwoofer.
