hadnt done it but i know people with those brand lights on other vehicles. they'll melt with just halogens in there, right where the light hits the plastic

i suppose you should keep it clean since light will pass through clear and reflect and heat up on whatever is on the lens...melting the lens.

idk man, to me i'd run a hella 90mm projector in there opposed to that projector, and then you'll never have a problem cuz the hella's have vents for heat.

How hard is it to put the Hella 90mm in those lights?

I'm looking to get a pair maybe, but I'm just not sure yet?

I would guess that they say not to do it based on the non-HID reflectors in them. The light pattern would be "illegal".

Hid and depo auto lights work just fine together. I have had an 8000k 35w kit for almost a year.

how was the fitting and how did you bypass the drl??

fit was ok, just at the top of the light it doesnt meet the fender as closely as OEM

i unplugged my drl module the first week i had the car...since i don't have factory foglights, it wasnt a problem.

Yeah those pic make me wanna buy them. But has anyone tried the eBay ones vs. the depo lights from the website. Cuz the ones from the website are like 100 bucks more :eyebulge:

i really doubt there's any difference between the two. and for the record just so noone's mislead, the halos arent nearly that bright in person (unless im the only one). They're actually clear plastic rings lit up by two leds and you have to be right up there to see them.

You can make them brighter but its a hell of an amount of work.

The angel eyes are really nice though and when matched with an 8000k hid kit they match and look very nice.

Yeah I didn't think there would be a difference. How hard is it to change out the LED's that light up the Halo's? On the back of the lights it looks like there is a bulb that you can change out for the Halo's.

thebarber

the halo's are actually pretty dim in real life....i did the wiring for them in the daytime (hooked them up to the 3 LED's on each side) and had to shade each headlight to make sure they were working....

in real life the led's are about as bright as the halo's LOOK and the halos are about half as bright as the led's really are at night...

Interesting....either way it looks bad ass. I'm just waiting a lil bit and then I'll get them =D But what type of bulbs are they. Cuz I just got some HID's (fogs and lows) H4 and H11's. It looked like you guys were saying they take H1's?

the wiring splits the h4 into seperate high and low beams which both become H1

I hope they make those lights to fit the '09+ models. I didn't realize there was a difference until after getting my car.

Looks sweet btw!

Bad part to those lights as I have found out is the mounting tabs are fairly cheap, got 2 broken in just 4 months and gone through 3 sets of light bulbs.....thinking about going back to stock as I am tired of changing bulbs every 4-5 weeks.

I have these headlights as well and I've seen people use HID on them....you shouldn't have an issue. I thinks its a liability thing with them and in some jurisdictions they are illegal.

hey barb..did you just relay the hids to run with them drl issue.

i have my drl's unplugged

but my H4 kit has a harness with it, yes. so it could run on drl's (the aveo runs its HID's as DRL's). i also have/sell capacitors in case of flicker - - i had to use it on my mom's 03 malibu...which also uses the HID's as drl's and w/ auto lights

currently, my DRL module is unplugged and the H4's are split into 2 H1 bulbs for low and high. i disconnected my H4 HID wiring harness and just run the H1's directly off the oem wiring.....so now my high beam indicator works again, lol

i found an extra relay harness fr my previous hids.. was thinkin to just using that.. didnt want to disconnect hid cause had someone did that and lost his fogs..

would the relay work vs capacitors

thebarber
06-10-2010, 12:51 PM
would the relay work vs capacitors

it depends on whether the output from the oem drl module is pulsed or not. i used both the harness and capacitor on my mothers malibu...

marcus
06-10-2010, 01:14 PM
yikes didnt know about that pulse thing.. i may have to open a thread for this..about to get hid this saturday..only reason im going hid is because i have to take the bumper anyways and put on my hella so might as well add hids right...lolz

if not i can always add capacitor..just let me know which one and where to tap it..

Does anyone know the size of the projector? I heard some people talk about getting a 50mm size from a different website to do a retro-fit. So how big is this one? And how big are ones on like an Audi or something?
