I have a 2007 yaris 4dr sedan and the rear speakers stopped working. Does anyone know what might have happened and what do I need to check/fix?

Well, if you have someone like my gf, who drives your yaris, they may have blown the speakers. But more then likely I would say check the settings on your radio, someone may have set it to output to only the front speakers. I'm not sure if you have the integrated radio or the standard one, but for the integrated one you hit the right knob in to go through the settings.

Check the fader first, as suggested. If it's set correctly, you'll have to keep digging. If there's absolutely no sound, check the plug on the back of the stereo. The rear speakers are fed by their own plug. It may have worked loose and rear speakers are the only thing that would be lost if that plug came out.

I've checked the settings on the radio and the connector on the back and they're good. I thought maybe the stock radio had a problem so I installed an aftermarket radio I had laying around and the rear speakers still didn't produce any sound.

did you check the connections in the trunk, under the actual speaker? I've knocked both loose at once before

yes, I've checked that too. What are the chances that both rear speakers would blow out?

unplug the stock cables to the speakers, wire with some extra cables you may have around and connect to a 9v battery if they pop they should be good.. might be a problem in the wiring somewhere..
