View Full Version : Painted the headlights today

Well my fingers still hurt from prying those Y^%$^#$ headlights apart. But at least it turned out quite nice. I used paint that's meant for painting breaks and calipers. It can withstand up to 900 degrees or something crazy. Anyway, had to bake the painted pieces to cure that paint. Check the pictures below and let me know what you think. One shitty thing is, during my painting project, I had the marker lights/wires sitting on the table. I shook the table by accident at one point and one set fell to the floor. I never though anything of it until tonight when I realized that my driver side DRL is out. I still have signal lights because those are the large bulbs. .... now the pain in the a$$ will be that I have to take the headlight out AGAIN to replace that little bulb. But like I said, at least it turned out quite nice.

Thanks! And yeah, I have HID's. Everything is is a zip-tie prison under the hood. That's why it sucks taking those headlights out =P

Very nice!!
I'd like to do that to mine, but I'd be to worried about messing things up. Maybe if I could find a second set of lights. Or I can just hope and wait that there is a projector kit made for the '09+ LB.

Oh crap! I definitely took my time with the silicone to make sure I got it everywhere. I even used a toothpick to push it into cracks I couldn't readily reach with the tip of the tube. Rained for 2 days and no fogging so I think I'm okay.

mine started fogging up after a year or so, FYI.
but if you took time doing the work, it should be fine.
on a side note, this was like my 7th headlight housing paint DIY for me (done the same job on my previous cars) so i can safely say that i'm pretty experienced in doing this job. i also had a friend of mine helping me out (holding the housing and pushing it in while im doing the sealing to minimize the air leak). kinda weird how it turned out to have condensation, but shit happens. it's not too bad either lol if i could care less, i can just drive around without even bothering about it.

I had bad condensation when I installed my HID's so I was extra paranoid of it happening again =P But you're right, shit definitely happens lol
