Wow! The Smart Car wheel base is only 73.5 inch (186.7 cm) compared to the Yaris 3-door LB at 96.9 inch (246.1 cm)!

Must be horrible in snow... wheel base and weight combined? :iono:

there's actually been an article in recent issue of both road and track and motor trend about taking the smart car up thru british columbia into alaska, iirc.

handles fine in the snow -- like any car, you just need snow tires

whats the hoopla Im stating my opinion not trying to start anything, Smart is just an overpriced pseudo treehugger car , thats all. Last time I checked we could still post opinions on a forum, was I rude to anyone? did I offend someone, if I did please let me know

i don't see what you posted as constructive or relavent to the thread.

Atleast the Smart Car is rear wheel drive. Too bad the Yaris can't say the same.

I did not know the Smart Car is rear wheel drive. Once you said that I wondered how it would drift. Check it out:

The car in this video is heavily modded but still, not too shabby for such a wee car.

we've had the smart car in canada since 2004 but it was as diesel. it wasnt until it was released in the US that our smart cars swtiched to the gas engine

Actually, the car in the photo would have a wheelbase of 71.3 inches. The 3rd gen model which made it into the US is longer at 73.5

why?

nice. a diesel might make it not too terrible accelerating. maybe.

no, i drove one out east, the acceleration is pretty horrible if you need to get moving.....moreso because of the transmission which always granny shifts gear-gear

much better economy with the diesel, though

every time when i see smart car owners boasting with their custom license plates going like this one or something like "B SMART" or wutnot, I can't help but to laugh at how ironic that is. If they were so smart, they can probably buy a better car than Smart. lol...just my 0.02 no hating or offence
