I have been thinking of putting a Hello Kitty exhaust tip on my Yaris for his one year anniversary with me.
My question is: Will this make the car louder at all? I'm a total noob at stuff like this and have never replaced a tip for no reason other than to be cute like this.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Tips barely effect the sound.

Be sure to check out Garm's pricing before ordering. http://shop.microimageonline.com/Hello-Kitty-exhaust-tip-hket-1.htm

I just measured the sound level with and without my Hello Kitty exhaust tip.
Baseline in my garage was 44.0 dBA.
Idle with car at operating temp, no AC, no tip 58.1 dBA.
Full throttle (or as close as I can tell without a tach) 90.4 dBA.

With the tip, at idle, 59.5 dBA.
With the tip at full throttle, 94.1 dBA.

I used a calibrated Extech 407764 with the garage door closed @ 1 meter away And 1.5 meters from the floor.

So there is a bit more sound, but shouldn't be enough to get you pulled over.

Thanks for the further info. I Just like the quietest car possible always! I can't stand loud cars. It's embarrassing.

It's far quieter than any aftermarket exhaust would be.
You would have to drive with the windows down slow (but high in the RPM range) with the radio off to hear a difference. Even then engine noise may be louder than the exhaust. I do have an AFE intake which is defintely louder than the exhaust tip.
There are a few people on here with Pilot brand resonated tips they've bought at Walmart that say they look and sound nice but not too loud.

LMAO, the scary part was about him doing sound level checks of his exhaust " with my garage door closed". Whats wrong with that picture, lol

lol... yeah, sounds bad, but it was only for a couple mins until I passed out. Luckily, I hit my head on the garage door opener and it let in some fresh air.
