TEIN Coilover Specs

TEIN website is saying their coilovers drop -2.8 in the front and -2.3 in the rear.

Can anyone who owns these confirm?

That number is part of the coilover range -1.3~-2.8 in the front and -1.2~-2.3 in the rear.

Actual drop using their measurements in their installation manual will put you at -1.9 front and rear.

You can lower it to -2.8 but will limit your suspension travel and bottom out on dips and bumps. The Tein Basic suspension is a bit too soft to lower it that low.

I had mine set at about -2.5 and it rode okay especially for crappy ass Los Angeles roads and freeways.

I'm looking to pretty much dump the car, and they need to go low enough for 14" wheels to still ride really really low.

I know about bottoming out and know the Tein basics have soft spring rates...

If I don't end up liking em I'll just sell em to someone else.

Do you think they can go low enough to remove all fender gap on 14" wheels?

Teins will probably give you the drop you want but going that low will cause some problems. You are at the lowest range of the coilover and will cause the shocks to prematurely wear out. Rubbing issues and rubbing issues with passengers(but those issues can be worked out pretty easily).

To get the rears of the Teins to drop as low as the front, you might need to take out 1 or both locking spring seats.

But to really get the drop you want, I recommend Silkroads.

I really want to go with the Silkroads but there's a used pair of TEIN basics in my area right now for $600... god it's tempting.

It's something I'll really have to think about it. I've made a couple mistakes on the Yaris already, most, if not all of which, stemmed from trying to save a couple bucks and buying cheap.
