I've been sitting on this looooong enough... but it became really necessary for me to get some new wheels, here's what's happened to one of the old tires:

It had been steadily losing pressure over time, until I literally had to refill it every other day...
So, because I am sadly on a budget, and a set of low-profile tires for 18" wheels costs about as much as a set of new 15" wheels and tires.... It was time to go small, light and dark :D
Out with the old:

The new hotness:

Yes, I know, not a well-known brand, but I've checked a few comparisons online and they are more than decent, and hard to beat for the price :)
And now:

Impressions? Why didn't I do this sooner??? :D Seriously, the old 18" wheels looked amazing, but so wrong for this car and these roads... now the ride is more supple (but the coilovers are still pretty jarring), the car does feel more responsive, though I have yet to give it a proper flogging), I have not broken the bank (the shop even bought back my old rims, they can probably get them refurbished... I was not expecting to make any money off them, so... bonus!).
So, it's an awesome feeling that even after 3 years of the "same old" car, it can still bring a big smile to my face :D
OK, so now I really need to get the car washed inside and out and do a worthy photoshoot...
