I find the lack of choices in parts for the Yaris disappointing. I'm trying to do anything I can to get more US R&D done on this engine, and someone posed a question to me today and I couldn't answer.

What aftermarket parts do you think would sell? What do Yaris owners want?

Couldn't answer, but promised him I'd find out. If you have an opinion, lay it on me. A couple jump to my mind right away...

CAI - I suggested he copy the TRD design to limit costs in production, thus giving the market a cheap TRD replica.

Supercharger - This is really a doozie. I don't know if there is enough interest in a supercharger, but I would suppose a cheap FI alternative could be created.

Suspension - An affordable, sportier suspension that doesn't ruin your ride comfort would be nice.

What do you guys think?

My Wish List

Turbo/Supercharger... I would have to weight out the price/performance ratio
A Real Exhaust System... Not just this $400 muffler! WTF
ECU (re-program)... In my option most import Mod...
Torque Converters... For those Automatic People (not me)

That’s about all I can think of!

Suspension bits. I don't mind a rough ride.
A rear sway bar for sure.
An affordable front lip. Even if its unpainted black plastic, just something that will look nice and be cheap enough to toss out and replace if you curb it.
brake upgrade
pre painted side skirts

I don't see big power adders being big sellers. I came from a turbo car with decent power. Obviously I was not thinking of speed when I bought my Yaris.

I could build a turbo kit, but I really do not want to void my warranty or spend several thousand dollars in supporting mods.

- a turbo kit (probably including ECU and lower comp pistons) is definately on my wishlist. ZPI's turbo for the xB looks promising.
- maybe a supercharger instead.
- a small chin spoiler such as aeroover's (not too agressive): click this (http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com/catalog-detail.php?ID=5262)
- ...

i'm sure there's more...!

I'm thinking thats about the jist. So a good start would be...

Intake
Exhaust (WITH midpipe/cat, and make a sedan version)
F+R sway bars
Strut tower bars
Springs

Sway bars for sure, as well as some engine upgrades, like a performance camshaft, uprated pistons and other internals, that sort of thing, either for people who want a tougher engine for FI applications, or for squeezing the maximum without FI

rumor has it RaceComp Engineering is building low compression pistons for the 1NZFE :)

RCE does alot in the subaru community.

Actually some time ago someone posted a link to some low compression pistons for the Scion Xa, and that is a 1NZ-FE as well, but damn, they were pricey... Can't find it, but after googling around, I just found this site which has some more affordable engine upgrades and a range of pistons for between 8.5 to 10.0 compression (scroll down to the Echo section):

interesting....
