Many of us have been replacing wiper blades with aftermarket products.
They cost a few $$ and do the same thing, for the most part, Wipe the windshield.
The DEALERSHIP PARTS DEPARTMENT has replaceable inserts that are very inexpensive. The passenger side "short" one is less than 5 bucks and the driver side "long" one is less than 8 bucks.
They are oh-so-simple to replace and in Hawaii, last just as long as anyone else's offerings.
I say, if you need a wiper refill, check out your local dealership !
Money well spent, IMHO

For the rear windshield wiper, I could not find any aftermarket option at all. The dealer wanted like $3.75 for a new insert blade, and it wipes clean like brand new again.
Do you know how much it costs to re-buy the stock vipers to begin replacing inserts only again?

ah... they cost some 4$ for my 13 incher... and it was over 7$ for the 26" when i got mines.
it's true, the oem wiper frame last for a long time. I've went through 2 sets of profiled wipers before i realized i should get the replacements. lol

Bought refills for both front wipers at the local dealer (Burlington, ON, CA) for less $12 something plus tax. Can't beat that as I find the OEM wiper frames superior to most of the aftermarket replacements.

I don't know how many threads are on this site where I've preached the replacement inserts approach. Gotta agree with MUSKOKA, OEM frames are far superior.

i am sure there are as good frames out there. ie, rainX frames.
the only thing is the quality of the blade. the toyota blades tend to be better than the usual blades out there.
I was about to buy some after market ones this weekend, but I didn't know the OEM price was so cheap, I'm going in that direction instead :)

^ Just to be clear, we are talking about buying the rubber inserts only. The dealer will still rape you for a complete replacement wiper.
I know, nothing wrong with the wipers themselves, just my big wiper rubber insert is half way ripped off after the big winter storms we had over here in NY, too much ice scraping and such destroyed it, now its just flying all over my windshield when i drive on the highway lol

You're not supposed to scrape the ice with the wipers! They make these things called "ice scrapers" for that...

I didn't lol, there was a really bad storm when i was driving home on the highway and it was so cold and so much wind that my windshield was icing up, I had the heat on high blast to melt it as much as i can and had the wipers going otherwise I would've been blind and drove off the road onto the ditches on the side of the highway, finally reached an overpass got out and ended up scraping with some plastic crap in my trunk the ice off my windshield and drove the rest of the way home fine. It was really bad I saw so many cars in the ditches stuck on the side of the highway because they drove crazy, I was going really slow and looked at the tire tracks in front of me and where they lead because there was no lights or nothing.
