View Full Version : Good-bye, Yaris :(

Well guys, it's official.

My Yaris is gone

As I posted last week, my ex-husband wrecked his Saturn - well, they said they were going to total it. Then our insurance company was going to save it today but there is approximately $5k in damage done to the car so it was just decided by the adjuster about 20 minutes ago that they ARE, in fact, going to total the Saturn.

Why does this matter about the Yaris? Because it's in his name. The agreement in the divorce was that I would take over payments and once it was paid off, it would be mine. But now that he has no car, he is taking it instead of buying another one.

So, I have stripped it back to stock and left him with a bare nekked Yaris.

But have no fear ........ I am eye-balling a used black LB. I am planning on murdering it out :P I am going to get settled in TN and get my head right (this divorce is a LOT of stress) and in a couple months I will go and pick one up.

Let us have a moment of silence for my poor Yaris, who is not going to be treated the way she deserves to be treated in the hands of my ex. He doesn't care about cars and doesn't know how to treat them properly.

I'm going to miss her :drinking:

Seriously ... I am like sobbing and all teary just posting this. I have never loved a car the way I have loved my Yaris, and I have had over 20 vehicles in the last 10 years since I turned 16 and got my first car.

I'm still going to be hanging around, and I am going to be selling a few things - but I don't think I'm ready for that yet. Still kinda emotional.

Sorry for your loss. Does the ex have to pay you back for what you
already made payments for?

If there was a hug Smilie, I'd send it your way, but since I can't find one,
this will have to do  so you don't feel so bad.

Good luck with the rest of the divorce settlement and let us know when you
get another Yaris. And of course, do post a pic of you and the LB!

I am just going to walk away, he has taken me to the cleaners and I am leaving this marriage with literally nothing. I make way more than he does and I was told by my divorce lawyer that I should be lucky he isn't trying to get alimony. I am leaving with literally nothing but my personal items ... it's horrible.

But it's OK. I'll recover. Karma is a bitch, and he will get to know her personally. :)

There will be another car in my future, but I just have such an emotional connection to my cars LOL I should have been born a boy :P

Jumpman ... do you seriously want my wheels? We could talk out a deal ...

hahahah I trade cars a LOT :) I've had the Yaris for 3 years, that is an all time record. That means I really lubbed her

And thank you ... I will probably take you up on that offer

Crappy situation. Sorry to hear JBougie. :frown:

Sorry that it seems to be a very uncivil divorce. That makes things really difficult. He obviously isn't a respectful man for taking the bulk of belongings. Especially a car you love, made payments on, and modded to your taste.

How many payments have you made? That's total crap if you put the bulk of the money in and he gets it after totaling his car. I understand it's in his name, but still. It ain't right.

Good luck with everything.

I've been paying on it for 3.5 years ... so it's almost paid off.

And I agree, it's not right ... but I have no fight legally with it. Just a lesson learned for me in the future - even your husband can't always be trusted, and never allow a car to be put in any other name than your own. :/

I am just hoping that I can get another one bought and modded before Import Alliance next year, because I'm not missing that for anything :) haha

That sucks, J. Sorry to hear that.

If you're considering looking in the Memphis area for a Yaris, I purchased mine used at City Auto (http://www.cityauto.com). Doesn't look like they have any at the moment, but you never know when one of their salesmen will get one in. The Wolfchase Toyota (http://www.wolfchasetoyota.com) dealership may also have some used once you get ready to purchase. Right now looks like they have 2 used: a white automatic sedan and a white manual HB.

Good luck!

I got a phone number, too.

Chin up!

You got a long life ahead of you, and lots of friends and special people coming into your life.

Just look around here for a small sample of people on your side

As to the ex, I find that the best possible message you can send him (besides the obvious :middlefinger:) is to be happy moving forward. f*ck'h*m.

Speaking of moving forward, I strongly recommend the LB. You'll get nothing but compliments. :headbang::headbang: BTW, I got mine used, too, but in excellent condition. Saved a little bit of money by doing that.

Yeah divorce is not fun.

Here's an old joke you might like...

Question:

Why is divorce so expensive?

Answer:

BECAUSE IT'S WORTH IT!

... you really don't fully understand this until you go through it.

true that. That's why every time people split, their respective friends take side :iono:

hey i understand what you are talking about... went through something similar... when my echo got totaled, it was in my ex's name... i had to pay for her prius, and she got to keep the title for my echo that i paid 80% of... she took the payout for the echo, and made me take the prius... however, i immediately sold that and got my dream car... still show up on here occasionally to post...

Gurl you need to suck them tears and take a breath, and let karma take numbnuts to a whole different level, you do you, and in time if you re dedicated you ll get a Yaris sedan or LB, it your world, and believe the world goes around, and he ll get his ten fold. If he was a real man he would get his own car, bothering shorty for hers, what a d!ck. Nena if you are going to sell parts PM me to see what you are selling, or just to chat, keep that head up & holla at me.

And I have had a secret crush on them for a while now ... I just didn't want to say anything because I felt like it was cheating on my sedan

It does suck ... but I swear he isn't THAT bad of a guy. He is being nice and avoiding the insurance company for as long as he can so that I can at least keep it until I move to TN so I am not completely car-less, he told me that last night so that's nice.

He is trying to be as nice about this as possible ... but there really isn't a way to be nice :( Saying 'hey - since I totaled mine, I'm taking yours' isn't really cool ... so it's an asshole move, but at least he isn't taking the car from me right this second and letting me at least try and make arrangements.

This whole thing just blows. :/

why?
07-09-2010, 11:43 PM
that really stinks, there is nothing nice about it. I'd leave a bomb attached to the ignition.

I hope you get everything sorted out and get to start again. It is sad that in this world you cannot trust anyone you don't have at the business end of a shotgun.
