Hello to all the Yaris owners out there. I am looking to swap a 1ND-TV engine into a 95 or older Toyota Tercel and was hoping to get some assistance here. I've chosen a 95 or older Tercel due to emissions testing. 95 or older doesn't need to be tested at all where I live, so I am free to do as I like. Yes, it would be an easier swap into an Echo or Yaris. I know the drive shafts will plug right into the tranny. The only thing I'll need to fab up is engine mounts, and thats not too difficult. The full harness and ECU comes with the engine. Integrating it into the car will be some work of course.

Anyway, on to my questions. Basically I have gotten a bunch of pictures from the engine importer and I need to know if I'm missing anything critical? I already noticed that the EGR cooler doesn't appear to be there. The engine importer said he can get that for me. On another yaris forum someone mentioned I might be missing the maf/map sensor? Where is that located on this engine? Is there any service manual available online?

My last question is related to the tranny. This one comes with a 5 speed manual transmission. I see the newer ones come with a 6 speed so I'm guessing this is the older 75 hp engine vs the newer 90 hp engine. Does this sound right? Also, does anyone know the gear ratios for the 5 speed trans?

Thanks in advance!

I am mighty jealous. My wife wouldn't let me bring one back from France last summer.

I have some documents on the 1ND-TV. PM me your email address and I'll shoot you what I have.

Also, the tranny should have the model number cast on the case (C154 or something like that). If you can find that I can tell you the rations.

I never actually bought the engine. I did find an importer who had a few. I havent yet found a Tercel that I'd like to swap the engine into as my requirements are pretty specific.

I totally missed how old your post was. If you decide to get it also get the intake assembly (which includes the MAF) and the gas pedal assembly (since it is a DBW throttle).

Out of curiosity, how much were you looking at cost wise?

I think it was around $2000 shipped.

hey daox!

Yeah, I'd like a 5th gen. They're more aerodynamic, look a little nicer, and are just newer. However, I really want a 4 door. Also, to avoid emissions issues, it would have to be a 95. So, the requirements are fairly strict.

If I ever did the swap, it would replace the Paseo.

I can tell you about that 5 speed 75/90 hp question.
I have the 90 hp d4d engine with a 5 speed manual transmission.

The younger Yaris has a 90 hp 6 speed transmission.
