I'm sure this has been dealt with plenty, but searching hasn't yielded any results beyond what I've already tried. I don't know why they couldn't just follow standards...dang it. Anyway, I'm trying to get my new Infinity Kappas in my Yaris. I made a bracket out of MDF wood and it won't fit in there because when I bolt the speaker to the bracket, the bolts cause the speaker not to fit in the holes. I'm about ready to just start drilling holes in my Yaris, but before I do that I wanted to see if anyone else had a simpler suggestion.
Thanks.

Is it easy to drill through the chassis metal?
Seems like you would need a hefty drill for that, no?

It's not real thick metal. My problem is just lining up the holes. I don't want to hack her up too bad, or end up with some jackleg farked up speaker rig.
I guess I'll make my best educated guess and go for drilling it out.
BTW Jumpman, your sedan looks SICK!

Well I just went out there and removed the other factory (crap) speaker from the rear. Jeez those bolts next to the glass are a PITA... anyways. I'll be breaking out the drill and see if I can get these bad boys installed tomorrow afternoon. Pics will come as long as the fail whale stays away.

Put the speakers where you want them and take a fine point sharpie and mark the holes.
Easy really. No need to guess.

The problem I have is that the speakers are so small that I can't just mount them directly to the car. I still have to use the wood brackets that I had made for me, but I have to trim the edges of the speaker hole thing to get the screws that mount the speaker to the bracket into the car. Jeez...complication.

So yeah...many hours of labor and whatnot. I have one of the speakers in and working (holy crap it sounds awesome) and the other one is basically ready. The holes have all been cut and the metal has been dremeled off the car so it should be ready to go tomorrow. I just need to mount the speaker to the bracket and mount the bracket to the car, then reassemble the rear deck and it's done! I took a few work in progress pics just to show that I'm doing something haha.
Sorry for the crappy BlackBerry pictures.
