I have a small problem. I bought these tires on Kijiji for such a good price that I couldn't turn it down. Now that I have put them on the car I have a problem with rear fender rubbing going over larger bumps. And having anyone in that back seat is just not an option.

What is the best option to help me keep these tires on my car? Stiffer suspension? Stiffer shocks? Air bag ride helper?

I haven't done any modifications to this car. The cheapest route would be great.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I think it'll be cheaper to just buy new tires.

You can try adding some rear camber. Cheap and easy. Go to Home Depot or similar store and buy 4 1/2" stainless steel washers. Place one of these on the lower two hub bolts between the axle and the hub. If it still does not provide enough clearance, then atleast you are only out a couple bucks and some of your time.

This took care of a rubbing issue that I had due to the right rear wheel on the car sitting 3mm more outboard than the left.

Also, do you know the offset of those rims. That would help us determine how far out your wheels are sitting, and better understand your particular clearance issues.

The offset on the rims are 38. As for new tires what size is recommended?

How much did that setup cost ya?

225s are pretty wide for a 6.5 rim. Better fit would be 195 to 205s. With the current 225s on a +38 wheel, adding camber may provide for enough clearance to eliminate the rub.

+1. And since they're good tires, you can just sell them and buy another set of used tires in the right size without losing much money.

550? I wouldn't exactly say that was a smoking deal.

Your gas mileage is gonna go down down down.

Agreed. I just bought a set of four 15" OEM 7 spoke wheels with tires already mounted for $600 delivered. ......And rims/tires are all brand NEW!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I think I am just going to go with a new set of tires. I don't really want to mess around with the camber.

205/55/15 will put you right into the OEM size ballpark. Check the 'tire and wheel' guide which is stickied at the top of this forum for other acceptable choices.
