Their was way too much fluid in my trans for a while, so I was able to get out there today and drain it down a bit. My question is that the fluid level now, when hot, is right at the bottom lower tooth of the "Hot" mark. Is that ok and won't hurt anything or does it need to be filled a bit more so that it's in between the upper and lower tooths of "hot"?

As long as it is at the lower tooth it should be fine. Running an auto with too much fluid is one of the worst things for it.

I know, I wish I would have known sooner :(

When I redid the trans fluid (long story short...the trans pan caved in from a tire left in the road, thank god no rim attached), the fluid level was fine...but I checked it the other day and it was way above the top tooth.

I still have some ATF WS fluid left so I'll add some in tomorrow to get it between teeth.

The key is checking it when it is really hot. If you fill it and then just let it idle in the driveway, it takes way too long for it to get hot.

I filled it up a bit more and now it's just a pinch above the top tooth mark when hot. Should that be alright?

Should be. Here's what the service manual says:

35608

This is the ultimate page to check the fluid, thank you so much!
