I'd be glad for advice on this one.
My engine management light came on and so I took it to my Toyota dealer. As I had suspected, it gave a code indicating a problem with the catalytic converter, which would cost about £900 to fix (Yes, I'm in England!). My Yaris Verso (Fun Cargo to you guys in the US, I think) is 10 years old and has done 113000 miles, so that kind of money doesn't make a lot of sense. The Toyota lady understood this and advised I just carry on running the car until it might fail its annual MOT (UK Roadworthiness) test.
About 300 miles later, the light went off and stayed off. Then after another 300 - 400 miles, back it came on again. It has gone through this on-off cycle four times, and is now back on again.
Can I just ignore it?
Should I worry?
All advice gratefully received - thanks!
