Wish I could make it, love those events close to home, and I am way out of practice for the Solo Natls this year. :frown:
But I am off to Utah that weekend.

ooh, nice course, total length?
The road course is a 4.5-mile-long, 40-50-foot-wide, 24-turn layout that provides a variety of cornering speeds, from 50 mph to well over 100 mph. The fastest cars and motorcycles will approach 200 mph on the track's 50-foot-wide, 3500-foot main straight.
The course has four possible configurations. The 2.24-mile East Course is a highly technical challenge suited to lower-powered, better-handling cars and motorcycles, while the 2.2-mile West Course is fitting for higher-powered, larger cars and motorcycles.
The East Course has as many as seven major overtaking areas and 14 corners, including the three-turn esses, which have significant elevation changes. The feature corner on the East Course is the final turn, a 50-foot-wide, nine-degree banked sweeper that leads onto the main straight. It is designed to create last-minute overtaking challenges before the race to the finish line. View a map of the East Course.

Have to say this was one clusterfuck of an event for the most part. Missing r-comps due to miscommunication, bald street tires in CSM, slippery start line, highly-confusing section right away, 2 DNF's, and a crappy camcorder. Just not my day
At least the headrest mount did its' job well and my run group was small so was able to get through it very quickly. Meh better luck next time...

GARM: aw man! Some guy at registration was asking me if I was the Turbo Yaris owner. We talked about it for a bit, along with Long's car. Again, your car's presence lingers. UGH. haha. THAT'S IT!!....I'm gonna pick it up whenever you can't make the event!!!
JOEY: Thanks for posting the videos. Is there a way for you to zoom out just a bit?
Oh hey. Looking at your wear pattern at El Toro, I'm gonna say you are overinflating them. I saw the front and back on the passenger side, and both were similar. Check this out..

So, since I took my gf to autoX for her first time, I figured we'd both run in my Yaris. Make things easier that way. She was nervous as hell, DNF'd her first run, and was thinking this wasn't for her. Luckily, several others DNF'd and there were some nice people out there that kept encouraging her! I don't know where they all came from, geez. But thanks to them, she's considering giving it another shot. :) She's not getting along with the cones. LOL
My first run. 69 second run. Taking it slow to show the gf the course layout and talking her through it.
JS Run 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJP1Ntn4zbs)
I pulled a 66 sec 2nd run, but left video out.
my GF's first run. (she was soooo lost) DNF run, and time was in the 80s (i think)
XJ Run 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4RL95djDVms)
Her second run was not recorded, but she "cruised" the course to familiarize herself better
Her 3rd run. Much better.
XJ Run 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJfLsbKTF28)
And finally, MY 3rd run. I managed a 64 second pass. Not sure yet, but it seemed pretty good for the class (For a yaris on All-Season's I mean).

Good runs. Looks like she's ready to take the CRX to Fontana hehe.
I was using a regular camcorder so if I zoomed-out, you would've seen too much rear-view mirror and speedometer. Not quite up to GoPro standards. Plus the cheap plastic mounting thread on it couldn't handle the rush so it was slowly shaking itself loose. Had to KrazyGlue and rescrew it in place today. It's rock-solid now.
As for wear pattern, it's a combo of slight overflation @ 40 PSI and one-side wear because I didn't align it after lowering, so it's got at least 1/2 degree of camber. And the passenger side is worn down more because I take right turns little more aggressively than the left. I can barely see a damn thing with that giant A-pillar in my face. Gotta work on getting around that.

Just stay home Garm! Give me the keys, damnit! haha.
Times posted! WHOA! They misplaced my name to HS. Made me look at those guys' times. I was like, "huh?" Surprised by my performance. I was only 3.5 secs off the leader! And they are on r-comps. I've come along way, it looks like :)
So happy. wooo hoooooooo

Hi guys. I bought a house in June and spent every spare moment and dollar working on it. Just moved in on the 11th. I expect to be able to race again in September.

BTW: if you ever want me to drive your car for you, in your absence, I'd be happy to do it. CST might start taking us seriously. Soon enough.

Curious how you guys are doing in respective classes with the Yaris? I setup one of the first Toyota Echos for ax back in 2001. It was very capable little car and surprised most who saw it. But it was really never comptitive in SCCA classes at a high level. How do your cars do in SCCA events at El Toro?
I dont think I saw any of you when I was down with my chop top Porsche Boxster for the divisional event.

in HS, the Yaris didn't do well. That was a while back and we were all new. I'm a little better and planning to revisit HS.
in CST, i'm a little on the slower end of the times.
The guys doing this in SoCal (correct me if I'm wrong here) are doing this for fun, though.
I was there for BOTH divisional days...in my CRX.

Yeah I usually ran my Echo for fun too. Usually with PCA. It was a total sleeper. With full on koni sports, sport springs, big whiteline sways, rear and front suspension braces. 15x7 wheels with Falkens. Porsche guys would laugh when they saw me drive up to grid and would cry when they saw times I was turning.
Look at their faces on this video as I drive back from finish after my run at local AX a few years ago. Hilarious stuff. They thought I had a huge motor in the car. It was stock motor with an intake. I had stripped all rear inteior and it weighed 1900 lbs.
http://www.streetfire.net/video/toyota-echo-ax-in-car-video_6469.htm
I'm seriously looking at Yaris now. Was thinking of doing very lightweight car with supercharger. I was also thinking of really focusing on suspension and doing monoballs, possibly do something that would allow better adjustability of both front and rear aligment. I could drive the snot out of the Echo.
Here is my current car.
