So after this awesome weekend at the LTA drag speed trials and once again using my Blackberry as my "camera" I finally broke down tonight and purchased a Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS from Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16830120444&cm_re=Canon_PowerShot_SD4000_IS-_-30-120-444-_-Product) upon looking into a suggestion via Engadget (http://www.engadget.com/2010/08/04/engadgets-back-to-school-guide-digital-cameras/). I was curious if anyone else has one and what their impressions are? I normally do not break out of spending 150 for a Digicam however I felt I needed to pull the trigger. I have been researching cameras for a couple years and always found one review or another disheartening me from purchasing for some reason. I didn't want to spend 600 or more on an SLR and to be honest I don't think that I would have the patience to deal with all of the manual settings, plus the larger size of an SLR. :w00t:

It looks good to me. I almost bought the SD1000 way back because it had such great rave reviews (my friends had them), but then I decided to get the Canon G9 instead (they're up to G10 or 11 these days), still a point and shoot, but with some manual settings. Can't go wrong with these units. DSLRs are great but it takes more patience and you can't put them in the back pocket, plus they're expensive. Point and shoot is a great way to start out :)
