View Full Version : Help me decide which EMS
its up between the aem fic or the emanage blue. This is just for n/a use btw. Need to advance timing and adjust fuel as best i can. I heard the aem is best for fuel trim but cannot advance timing. The emanage can tho. So which do you deem more important to max n/a power. Gonna do some dyno pulls too so you all can see what the gains are. O and does the ecu just override any of them?

1. you state you need to control fuel and timing.
2. you say the FIC doesn't control timing.
can't quite help just yet...

simply question really if you where looking for a ems which of the two would you pick for a n/a application. i am not a tuner. so i dont kno if a finely tuned a/f (aem fic)nets more power over advancing the timing(emanage blue).

I thought emanage blue could only retard timing.

I give you a simple answer, the ems itself cannot give you more power unless you are equipped with aftermarket parts ( at least HP per $ ). You mentioned for N/A application, I hope you dont mean having a CAI and an uprated full exhaust mean you need an ecu upgrade?
If you love your pocket, the best solution is matching uprated parts but still using stock ecu within limits. If you like words like BIG or AGGRESSIVE or Fully Custom which all leads to MONEY - PATIENCE - PROBLEMS then the ecu is your way to go

Is it even possible to advance timing with a piggyback? Both the emanage blue and FIC can only retard it.

well when last i got a dyno the tuner guys said i could get 5 or more whp if i had
a good tune. I am sitting at 115 whp right now when i went last week. I have pretty much all the bolt on mods you can have.
I heard from a couple of guys that the EMB can advance timing if you have the IGNITION wire set, unless it doesn't work on our cars...

I don't know if I understood correctly.... "if you had a good tune you gain 5Hp or more???? "
So you want to spend let's say 800$ (at the very least) which includes ecu, wiring expense and dyno expense for 5Hp okk maybe 10hp ... No way man!
Although that is my opinion, the car is yours!

Nitrous.

now there's a budget. so how much CAN you spend?
Further:

Given that only one person is running the FIC and one person is running the eManage, and none of the rest of us have tuned with either, I'm not sure how anyone can say for you which is better.
Ask the place that is going to tune the car. If you trust them, you'll get the right answer.

and giving that the FIC cannot advance timing, i'd scratch it from the list.

I can get the emanage with the harness needed for 350. Wiring is free and so is dyno time. Tuning tho is different. Well if you think about all those S/C guys out there its the same. $3.7k for what...30hp gain? I think on $/hp my option is better. People have been spending $300+ on a AXLE-BACK exhaust setup that nets them 3hp if they are lucky.

If I am making reference to the emanage blue and the aem fic you know what the budget is and no way can I afford $1000+ on a ems for the use I intend it for or else i would list it as an option.
Wasn't aware of the number of users of either device. Figured with all these boosted guys (20+)there would be more than that.
Where I am going to get it tuned they are familiar with both ems but not my car.

Thanks for answering the question.

There are only 3 options available, AEM FIC, eManage & Dezod. The first two being the more affordable yet very limited in what can be done. The 3rd being the most expensive & unlimited in what can be done.
So first question to yourself is:
How much do want to spend?
That will narrow down your choices. Second question would be:
Will I be able to find someone who can tune the EMS I decide to go with?
No matter which on you choose if you can use it properly it will be a waste of time & $$$$.

I'm pretty sure you meant can't, but I know what you saying.
