I will say up front I am a senior citizen so consider that when flaming me. I just installed a TRD exhaust on my 2007 Yaris hatchback and am very disappointed with the interior noise. I wanted a little more sound but with this muffler during normal acceleration it is too loud for comfort. It seems at high rpm it is not too much louder than stock but under load it a pain. It seems the droning may be the spare tire compartment sheet metal vibrating too much. Would adding some deadener to the spare tire area (dynamat?) be worth the effort and cost? Iv'e got the stock muffler back on for now.

Give me your TRD muffler....problem solved. Really tho, Dynamat would help somewhat, but you may have something loose in the rear of the car being affected by the frequency being emitted by the exhaust. Have someone rev your car whilst you snoop around in the back and search for the culprit.

A cheaper alternative to Dynamat is using acoustic insulation which you can find in your local hardware store. I stuffed my spare wheel compartment and some more behind the plastic trimmings in the rear. Definitely cut my interior exhaust noise down by a fair chunk.

In the end it only cost me $35AUD.. so I'm fairly happy. Give that a crack perhaps..
