Hello everyone,
I searched the forums but haven't found a clear answer.
My little Yaris is turning 1 year old, so i decided to give him a little "gift"-I decided to check the transmission oil and to replace it after a year to remove all the particles that left from the break-in period.

the manual clearly states that "a toyota genuine gear oil LV API-4 75W is recommended". This is a single grade oil. All the oils i have found are 75W90 multigrade. is it safe to put a multi grade oil in the gearbox? also, i haven't found any manufacturers, and can anyone recommend me about a manufacturer?

Do not use multigrade oil, the thicker oil increases resistance in the box slowing shift speed, the MMT ECU then detects this and increases shift force increasing wear in the transmission. Order 2 x 08885-81001 1ltr MT LV 75 gear oil from your Toyota dealer. ( note part number is for UK & I cannot guarantee that other markets use the same part number but your Toyota dealer will be able to source the oil for you)
