I'll be selling the Echo next month. It'll be my first time selling a vehicle so I'm looking for people to chime in on what to watch out for and tips on getting the most money.

Yeah. You recommend any shops that do safety and e-test? Or can I just go to any?

Don't get it safetied until you have a deposit on the car. The safety is only good for so long. And unless you needed an e-test this year for your sticker you shouldn't need to do that. You can get a "Used Car Package" from the ministry of transport. All it does it tells the potential buyer what's still owing on the car and how many owners the car's had.
Other than that, all you do once you have full payment is sign over the transfer portion of the ownership and the car has been sold. You'll then get a letter in the mail from the ministry asking how much you sold the car for. Because the new owner has to pay taxes on the price paid when they register it.

Sweet. Another thing I'm worried about is fraudulent payments. I assume I should just do cash or certified cheque with him at his bank?

Affirmative, cash if you're comfortable with it, or certified funds.

I think you can also do email money transfers now for a flat rate fee. I'm not totally sure though, I've never done one.
